I've been playing the Alpha over the weekend. This game is great. Probably the most fun I've had in a multiplayer game in 5+ years...maybe since Call of Duty 4. It is something for everyone. Sort of like a FPS...sort of like DOTA or LOL...sort of like Left 4 Dead... extreme fun.
Look forward to it releasing in February.
Were you playing with friends or just randoms? I ask because I was watching Sodapoppin (I know, I know...but his was the first stream listed on twitch) and it looked like he was having a frustrating time with it if even just one of the people on his team didn't know what they were doing. I know this can happen in online gaming but with a game where your chances of being on the team of four would theoretically be 80%, the prospects of having 4 out of every 5 games killed by some person not knowing what the hell they are doing is less than appealing to me.
But yeah, otherwise everything about this game looked impressive.
Both. I've played maybe 20-25 total games...and I'd say about 10 were with friends. A couple of those games we had a full Hunter party.
When I've played solo...it has mostly been as the Goliath or Kraken, but I've played a few with random Hunters.
I have no idea who Sodapoppin is.
Having a bad Hunter (especially a bad Trapper) can for sure ruin the experience a bit, but it isn't insurmountable. And this is an alpha...and a lot of people are new to it. This is my second time being in the Alpha so I know a bit more than most (I'm undefeated as a Monster) but normally a bit of mic communication can off-set an inexperienced player. The concepts are easy to get the hang of...mastery is very difficult. But if you explain what you want from a below average player....so far it seems to improve. I had a Trapper one game forget to lay down harpoons during a fight...so we explained the concept after we lost that round and then Trapper did much better the next go of it, and we won if I recall.
A streamer probably has no time to help out his teammates.
