Lack of versatility was the main reason I didn't like her. Her characters in Secret Word, "Don't Make Me Sing", and another that I can't think of right now were essentially the same person -- same clueless persona, mannerisms, and expressions.

Aside from that, I just don't think she's funny. The Gilly and Gar and Kat skits were bad.

I think Cheri Oteri was a much more versatile performer. Wiig is almost as bad as Molly Shannon, but not quite as physically repugnant.

One of the books I am currently reading is Live From New York: The Complete, Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live as Told by Its Stars, Writers, and Guests. It's updated to 2013. Same guys did the ESPN book. Interesting stories and tidbits about the various personalities.

I'm about halfway done and have discerned some two immutable truths:

Joe Piscopo is a Sinatra-obsessed weirdo

I know why I don't watch and haven't watched since Eddie Murphy left. It hasn't been consistently funny/witty/edgy in 35 years.

I'm amazed when I read about how so many of you all still watch. I make a note to watch based on some recommendations, but PAC-12 or even HBCU football on ESPNU wins out every time.

to me it sounded so clear and sounded like it came from a studio.... I felt it was one of the most obvious lip syncing performances of recent memory

I read that book and all I can remember is that Chevy Chase is an asshole and Frank Zappa tried to ruin the show.

and andrew dice clay was an asshole too. that book is one of my favorites. i loved the concept and execution. it's like reading a transcript of an A&E Biography. bill murray's gilda story is very cool.

Anybody watch this last weekend with Chris Rock as host and Prince as musical guest? I
was a little disappointed in the sketches and the Prince performance was quite a bit different
than I expected. He is talented as hell but I thought the music was pretty odd.

It was horrible. I've never seen them screw up a sketch that bad (and not in a funny way) like they did with that Anniversary couple bit.

The only memorable thing was his monologue which was pretty decent. All the sketches sucked.

What was that sketch even about? There weren't any jokes, just two people yelling at each other.

At one point, the woman walked out of the room when it was her turn to say a line then had to walk back in and still didn't know what to do.

That was a very weird situation to watch unfold. Woody Harrelson with Kendrick Lamar in 2 weeks has potential.

Sasheer Zamata is kinda hot.

Pete Davidson is pretty funny.

The polite bank robbers skit was good.

Best episode of the season. Woody Harrelson killed.

I liked the School House Rock bit as well as the weird school play bit. The Baby Body Boss skit is just ridiculous. IDK how that guy does it so well.
