I'm of the mindset that any subject has comedic potential. But when you attempt a joke like and mangle it as badly as Lange did, I have no problem with it being called racist, regardless of intent.

He is a comedian. You can say a bad comedian and that these jokes aren't funny. Fine. But is what he's doing any different than Lisa Lampinelli's thing of always talking about banging black guys? Nobody calls her racist. Comedians are vulgar and disgusting. Some of the best have been this way. If he does this in a stand up act, I don't think he gets killed. But we live in a new era. Where comedians are gonna put out their material on twitter.

The reason to believe Artie was high is because Artie is ALWAYS high.

I give comedians a lot of leeway in creating a joke otherwise it will stunt the creativity. It isn't easy crafting a joke.

I agree with him and that's what I was trying to say. Cari Champion shouldn't respond. It's one of those "Consider the Source" things. In this case the source was a vulgar, disgusting comedian who was...wait for it...making a vulgar and disgusting joke.

Now, if Tom Brokaw or President Obama tweeted that, different story. Why can't people get this?

No. After he stuck a knife in his stomach Howard got rid of him. He was doing some sports radio show. Maybe he's still doing it. Not sure.

There is still a fine line in comedy. You can get away with things if done correctly. This clearly was not.

Saying "I'm a comedian" isn't an excuse to do or say anything you want.

He has been off the show for years. He was either missing work entirely, falling asleep on the air, throwing things at people. They had to let him go.

I think there's a clip of Patrice O'Neal on some fox/business show talking about the subject of "good taste" in humor and/or what's acceptable, and he basically said that it comes town to whether the joke/s were funny or not.

He said ppl like his debate opponent have somebody else tell them what happened and claim faux-populist status representing "the people" or a group of "concerned citizens" which is a bunch of crap cuz WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT THEY REPRESENT? they give you some PR about their championed demographic and go back to talking points, having no clue as to what "funny" is and what makes people laughb/ be entertained as they're just out there to use a "controversy" to further their agenda to make rahm emanual and his legendary quopte about making use of a crisis proud.

In this case Artie bombed... It doesn't help that anyone who has followed him and/or listened to him for years on the stern show knows that by today's nebulous standards he's racist... But what this was about was a comedian trying to appeal to his base by being edgy and controversial and it spectacularly failed....

The kind of ppl he's bitching about would never consume his product anyways. I doubt he lost a serious # of fans (@midnight = huge numbers 4 sure) by doing this... If anything he reminded his target demo of ppl who wanna laughb@ tryhard "enwurd jokes" a not so subtle reminder that he exists,a and by calling out "the enemy" he hearkens the great culture war by making it seem like buying his ahit = fighting the evil PC police who wanna sanitize/censor ur world into a #SafeSpace for degenerates.

All in all it's just another joke about doing meth and taking a walk to st Louis.
