Steven Drozd back on the junk? Only way the Flaming Lips make music worth listening to is if he's bangin' H.

I agree. It is reprehensible for Wayne Coyne to continuously glom onto Miley Cyrus' relevance in an effort to retain some shred of cultural significance.

Saw the performance this morning as I watch Conan every morning before work. Total
overindulgence.

I don't think they suck exactly. I don't care for them redoing other peoples work like the Beatles
and when they redid Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. I only have one of their albums but I enjoy
it quite a bit ( Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots ).

You need The Soft Bulletin. RIYL Pet Sounds

Incidentally, I got into the Flips at the same time that I got into the Score. I'm not sure which one broke me more.

They come up quite often on Pandora when I listen to that so I am pretty familiar with a lot of their catalog.

Maybe the worst thought ever spoken on this board. They're a great live band.

I saw them open for White Stripes on NYE in 2002 (or maybe 2003), and they were fantastic.

Yes, they have jumped the shark a bit with their last few releases, but they are a SOLID live band.

The thing I don't get about this whole Flips/Cyrus thing, is this:

What is the desired demographic for this abortion of an idea?
Flaming Lips fans (if there are any left) aren't gonna say, hey you know, this Hannah Montana chick is actually pretty cool.
And Cyrus fans are probably wondering who the fuck this pervy Jesus looking dude who can't sing is anyway?

Makes no sense at all.
And the music since Yoshimi (which I didn't think was that great to begin with) has been utter shit.
I can't think of a single reason to listen to anything they've made in the last 13 or 14 years.

I actually turned this on last night about 30 seconds into the performance, and didn't even know it was Miley Cyrus. It was fine.

And I turned it off once Chipmunk popped her stupid face out from under Wayne's dress.
Couldn't watch it.
Not because of any kind of reverence for The Beatles, though I do revere them.
It just made me sick to my stomach.

I saw GWAR perform as O.A.R. at Ricky Rubio's niece's quinceañera.

The Soft Bulletin is a great album. The first track, "Race For the Prize" is really good. Brian Wilsons influence is all over this album.

Were you at the show hnd was at? Did he say that the Flaming Lips were a terrible live act. FULL STOP? No, he said that one particular show was the worst live experience he had.

It's one mans opinion about a show that he went to.

Got it, DoucheSTINE?

No!

This was a teachable moment.
