One could try to argue that, in light of the Trestman ALS that was invoked at first mention of his hire and the commensurate berating of all callers vehemently questioning the wisdom of the hire, it would be appropriate if Dan was 'forced' to sit through some calls wherein the meatballs got to light him up over his cocksure attitude at the onset of this horse abortion of a head coaching tenure.

However, that would be bad radio, irrespective of the delight some of anti-Bernstein coven would derive from it.

We'll see how the next segment goes.

This is looking like it will be his worst season with the Bears with the exact same quarterback.

Instead of spending his off day resting and preparing for another week of practice and a game he is doing multiple plane flights and then filming which isn't something most NFL players do.

Obviously, it's impossible to say without a shadow of a doubt that it is effecting him. I'm just saying it is fair to question his dedication when he has created a side job that puts him at a disadvantage to pretty much every other player in the league.

The Bears should take note of what Theo did when he had the chance. Improve your team and organization. Upgrade the head coach position.

The Bears need a Genuine Football Hard-Ass with a history of Authority.

This was not said by a meatball caller; it was said by Dan Bernstein, with an (admittedly perfunctory) grunt of assent by Terry.

Ponder that sometime later today.

I've done a complete 180 (540?) on Marshall. He seems like he's the only guy around that understands what's going on.

If I was in that locker room full of guys saying we're preparing great and just need to stay the course, I think I'd be going batshit crazy too.
I'd guess that Marshall is more of a distraction than he is part of the solution. He seems to be doing his best to say "Not my fault" without saying it in the media at every opportunity.

His effort seems to be pretty good though but if I'm in that locker room I'm still questioning his dedication when he's flying to New York every week when he is injured.

How does that matter relative to his injury?

As for flying to NY - it's Tuesday - their off day. A flight to New York is less than 90 minutes.

NO other team in sports would be allowed to do what Theo did. 'Um yeah, we are going to suck dong for 4 years - with the hope that we'll be good after that - but we'd still like you to spend a lot of money to come to the games, pay $60 to park and buy $9 beers. For 4 seasons'.

It's bizarre, but I can't think of another franchise in sports in which the GM would be given them much of a rope.

So if he were out visiting the orphans in the a.m., running a soup line at noon, handing out free coats in the afternoon, and calling the bingo game at St. Martha's of the Beloved in the evening, all the while eschewing speaking to the cameras following his every move it would then not just be "all good" but would stop the team from giving up a record number of points, allow the chains to move, give Trestman control over his locker room, and make Jay more likeable than talented?

Yeah, right. He's the fucking problem.

Don't make it more than it is. He's not the only problem. I'm saying there are reasons to question his dedication, even if he yells a lot and put up good numbers in garbage time last night.
