I've wondered why they have not excavated under the entire field, build a multi-level facility right there under the field like one of the lake-side parking structures. Tons of room for hitting, offices, any kind of top-flight amenities they would want to add. Heck, even the first level down could be like a mall- travel paths from side to side and plate to outfield, stores/food all along the way. underground parking. It would be easier to dig first and add the field back on top, but I'm sure the mining technology exists to do it from the mcdonalds site under the existing grass. I'm sure it's all about the money.

When they built it a ton of the columns started crumbling, they basically had to rebuild the place. It's concrete, it cracks.

The best part is the plan if they are not ready....."They wont use them" lol

They should be ready though. Not that much brick work....and do you want to be known as the steel company that couldnt get the bleacher seats ready for Wrigley.

I don't really care if the bleachers are completed a few weeks into the season or by opening day. Do it right and if mother nature doesn't cooperate, it's beyond their control. I'm just glad it's finally under way.

I have never said anything about Mexicans being lazy. I see Mexicans on construction sites and doing yard work all the time and most of them work at a fair pace. Don't attribute such statements to me concerning Mexicans.

I'm thinking it's more the temperature being too cold to cure the cement properly, but if you want to forward the other opinion on your own behalf, feel free.

It's the weather, and if the bleachers are not done in time for opening day, the sun will still rise. A home-stand or two without some of the bleacher seats installed, will not be the end of the world. Perhaps they can offer space in that area at a discounted rate, but you have to bring your own folding chair. People would be talking about it for years afterwards. It's just not that big a deal.

Except for a little thing called lost revenue streams.

Not worth worrying about. It will probably only effect a few games if any and you only worry about that which you can control. The weather isn't one of those things. Just be glad the process has begun.

The Wrigley gig is a high profile Union assignment. Havent seen too many Mexicans or Blacks on the job, if any. That is 100% the unions issue.
I just love Crane kenneys plan if the bleachers arent done. They wont let them in. lol

And the concrete will cure just fine as they are tenting any areas that will be having conrete work,

Best foundation ever poured for me was -4 in January. Put blankets and Hay on the forms and let it sit for 7 days.

Yeah, damn, I forgot about those crazy blizzards we've been hit with this season.

Also, I'm sure it is easy for you not to worry about. It isn't your lost revenue.

People love to bash Unions without even thinking of why they work an eight hour day and get weekends off.

I say we abolish all workplace laws. They're unnecessary. If you don't like the way a man runs his business, don't work for him.

Joining a union should be a free choice. Using union labor should be a free choice. If the union welder is that much better at $74 an hour v the well established company at $45 an hour, then it works.

To be forced to use Union labor is where it falls apart
