Obscrure, but one of my buddies here at work is longtime friends with someone at Wrigley. He's been pretty good about a lot of things in the past so felt good enough to post it here anonymously.

You sure it isn't a re-signing of Jon Leicester?

If this is true, it gives them a top of the rotation guy and then Arrieta slides down to #2. I will not be surprised if Arrieta has the better W/L record, ERA and WHIP at the end of the season though. Hendricks should also be in the rotation, with Wada and Wood perhaps. Whey can unload Jackson, or if they attempt to make one more attempt with him will be interesting. I think even bringing him into camp would be a bad idea. It would only be done because of the money still owed him. I hope they can find someone to take him, even if it means the Cubs pay 80% of his salary.

I trust you. I think they'll be a signing tomorrow. Not Lester necessarily

The Braves have a meeting with Jon Lester this week.

Edit:
Gammons, "I get the feeling that the Cubs think Jon Lester is going back to Boston".

Lester is going back to Boston, like my guy said two weeks ago

They might sign someone else today though.

I tried to quantify my 'source'. It's literally a friend of a friend who hears things about the office. Still confident a signing is occuring today, thinks it's significant.

I've thought all along he's going back to Boston

Gammons is always a little Red Sox biased. But he could be right.

If you had devoted yourself to going into free agency and had virtually unlimited options, why would you end it early before hearing everyone's proposal and getting a few free steak dinner-booms in the process?

I know, I asked what happened. I mentioned in the DBOTW thread, he's been right about Cubs things in the past that I haven't shared. 2 to 3 things come to mind. When I heard something big and all the Lester speculation I went for it.

I won't do it again,
