I don't listen to WSCR.

As much as Bernstein goes crazy with it, I wasnt referring to him.

Im talking people who wont let their kids play

Question Hawg, if you had another kid, would you let him play? Im just asking if the fact that your kid is older and already playing affected your choice

The problem is that there's no way short of flag football to divorce the game from torque and force on the skull. It's death by a thousand lines of scrimmage.

Oh, see, I'd ask questions like "have you considered any number of other extracurriculars that don't involve banging your head into people while your brain is rapidly growing?"

Football teaches you how to get knocked down and get back up again by literally knocking you down and making you get back up again. It's like saying you should learn not to count your chickens before they hatch, so sign up for the FFA.

He does play other sports, basketball and baseball.

No, not organized football. My dad said no. He was kind of ahead of the curve on all this concussion stuff.

Football (concussions) and Wrestling (yo-yo dieting) were off limits. Everything else was open.

But you're not trying to say that I dont get how special it is right?

Football defenders act like that at a way higher clip than Cub fans act like you paint them, in my experience.

Well, I meant in lieu of football. So I guess why not fall ball or fall basketball instead of football? (you know what I mean)

All sports were like that in their own way. Now that scores are not kept and everybody gets a participation ribbon/trophy, they teach you far, far less at early ages.

No, not really; we lost them all to Las Vegas because we're a frozen ghetto shithole with usurious hotel taxes and union rules written by Eugene Debs.

But the rest of your point stands. There is no way in hell that baseball lets a team move out with an extant stadium lease. Even the Rays, a dead team walking since day one because of their shitty dome and fair-weather fanbase, have been made to honor their lease. For all the shit Comiskey gets for being Not Wrigley, it's a thoroughly sufficient modern stadium with modern revenue streams, plentiful parking, and transit access in a world-class city. You can't just get up and go from it.

Yeah, this too. Lake Mead's water levels are at record lows and dropping. Did people really think the good times were going to last forever? I wouldn't want anything to do with Phoenix or Las Vegas in the coming years. To call Las Vegas a house of cards makes me feel like a hack, but...

Las Vegas is going to run out of water a lot sooner than 30 years from now.

Is Bedford Park an option?

Oddly enough, I think that is way overstated in the sports realm but very alive in other places

I think the whole cultural ill of The Participation Bauble is overstated. When kids get the white/yellow ribbon, they know they're losers, and other kids have the evidence to prove it. Why do you think I made sure to get a blue ribbon in the 4th grade Survival Run?

Ive seen kids win 5th place and get a medal when there were only 6 runners. They sure don't act like it bothers them

It varies. I have had kids throw away second place medals. It is not about being dumb, it was they can project to others.

Kids are small people. Most people are dumb. Therefore, most kids are probably dumb. I think that's fairly accurate.
