According to a major league source the Red Sox offer to Jon Lester falls into $110-$120 range over six years.


That is shockingly reasonable, which rules the Cubs out summarily by nature.....

Opening bid. He has already said he is going to take his time with this his team will obviously be playing one offer against the other. There is no reason to start the negotiations higher as the first bidder.

Theo has said he doesn't want to pay a guy for his past. With pitchers,it's always a guessing game. I would rather see the Cubs go get a couple of Hammels. The guy they had last year and the guy on the Phillies. They would have plenty of money left over.

Jimmy, Hammels makes as much (22 million per year for for more years at least) if not more than Lester will get and he'll cost you players.

I like Hammels, but I think he and Lester are similar and Lester costs way less.
