Something, not anything, but I'm sure you know the difference.

That is unless the White Sox are basically set at all positions already, which I find unlikely.

What is the board's take on guys who have been popped for steroids? Any issue signing them?

If not, Melky would be a good signing

I'd do it.

I was hoping the Cubs were going to look at Melky.

I don't care. He's OK. Sox need to add like 10 more OK guys for it to matter.

It might be hard to field a team, if you don't want guys who used, or were under suspicion.

As long as it isn't longer than three or four years, I'm good with it.

Right, but he was pretty recently suspended.

Yeah, I guess it would be pretty stupid. I bemoaned the Cubs not getting Cruz all of last season

Sign them, and then spend $100 million a year on steroids.

They added 4 players to the 40 man roster. RHP Francellis Montas, IB Rangel Ravelo, SS Tyler Saladino, and C Kevan Smith. The 40 man roster currently stands at 39.

I've seen Saladino down on the farm, and he has a non-zero chance to make the Show

That one surprised me too. Why waste a 40 man on him. It's not like they couldn't pass him thru waivers and reassign him to triple A like they did with Mitchell.

Just to clarify, i mean he has a chance, not a great chance-- of being a utility player on the big club. He kinda reminded me of a Grebeck-lite

They already have three utility guys on the major league roster in Leury Garcia, Marcus Semien and Carlos Sanchez. Plus they are thinking of trying Conner Gilaspie in left and hopefully Micah Johnson too. Even if they think Saladino is a guy (which I don't) I don't see where he fits. I guess it doesn't hurt anything now but if they need a rostet spot for a trade acquisition or free agent signing Saladino should be the first to go.

From MLB Pipeline:

Onelki Garcia is now the 19th ranked prospect in the White Sox system.

White Sox To Sign Adam LaRoche
By Tim Dierkes and Steve Adams [November 21, 2014 at 6:32pm CST]

The White Sox have signed first baseman Adam LaRoche to a two-year, $25MM deal, tweets Bob Nightengale of USA Today. LaRoche is a client of Relativity Sports’ Mike Milchin.

Left-handed power has been a priority for the Sox this offseason, and LaRoche will bring just that to the table, having averaged 26 homers per year over the past three seasons to go along with a solid .256/.346/.458 batting line in that same span. LaRoche will team up with American League Rookie of the Year Jose Abreu to create a formidable punch in the middle of manager Robin Ventura’s order. He’s regarded as a plus defender at first base, although he may see some more time at designated hitter with Abreu also figuring to log significant innings at first.

Jesus, I don't know about this one. He's better than Dunn, I'll give him that.

LaRoche is probably better, than Dunn was at the time of his signing.

Abreu - LaRoche / Viciedo platoon - Avi.

There's a few problems here.

1. If LaRoche ages we are fucked.
2. If Avi doesn't start living up to the billing we are fucked.
3. We are probably fucked.

Also, LaRoche cannot hit lefties at all so that means the Viciedo experience against LHP. That's scary.

LaRoche is a pro. Good signing but like I say, don't be surprised if he is hitting .185 on May 29th with 11 RBI.

Prospectus just reduced LaRoche's projected WAR for the next two seasons.

It just feels like we went from "THANK GOD, Adam Dunn is finally off the books" to "we mightve just given Adam Dunn a raise the next 2 years."

Adam LaRoche is 3 days older than Adam Dunn

I would rather give LaRoche 2/25, than give V Mart 4/50.

Agreed. This deal ends right when Abreu can opt into Arb, which is too convenient to be just be coincidence.

I don't like this deal. I don't see the need to give him that much money.
