This and/or WGN-FM was something they had wanted to do for a long time. Cumulus swooped in and got 101.1, 97.9, and the 87.7 lease before Tribune got its shit together with the spinoffs, so DeCastro panicked and threw together The Game for 87.7 way ahead of schedule. That's my understanding of it. No one could be so stupid as to launch a station around Harry Teinowitz, though this guy also put Bob Sirott and Bill Leff on the main station, so who knows.

Maybe they tested the frequency on DB's magic radio.

And the thousands of other listeners that listened to other formats on this frequency. This is such a terrible excuse.

Didnt come in at my house.
I'm sorry you're poor?

They appear to feel it was some type of achievement to be on the air 9 months before they did a Karen Quinlan on the not very talented group. Made me yearn for Webio

- Well, actually, I'm just an associate professor.
- What does that mean?
- Melvin!
- No, no, it's all right. It means, Melvin...it means that I'm...less than.

Like DT said, it's the obvious and easy thing to say, but it still does need to be said and shows well of him to make that effort.

The degree of scumbaggery in corporate America is unbelievable. people will do ANYthing to advance their own interests. lie, backstab, violate the law...laying people off via Feder via Twitter via CSFMB is not surprising.

But even if the data had been showing it was only a matter of time before The Game ended, the way it went down Thursday was bush league.
Gather the team together and tell them in person. Don’t make them learn of their fate via Twitter, while on the air.
It’s not the fault of the messenger, Robert Feder, as credible a reporter as we have left covering anything in Chicago. To blame him is wrong. He was doing his job to break news on his beat, and it’s the responsibility of those running the station to be ahead of the story internally.
Look these people in the eye, and thank them for their dedication and hard work. To have them processing something so emotional in real time, exposed on the air, was cruel.
I am proud to have worked with Ben Finfer, Adam Hoge and Connor McKnight at WSCR and would be so again wherever our paths may lead. They and others deserved better.

It's an easy blurb to write, but he's not wrong.

It sounds like danny was unhappy with the Really Smart Guy on Really Smart Guy crime perpetrated by Ben Finfer yesterday.

Oh I think the CSFMBpedia has a little more on Schmutzie

Should that be a thread? Where we define things and people that are referenced?

Didn't it used to be? I thought OKC kept some tabs on that sort of thing; probably lost in the ether.

All De Castro has to do is simply issue a statement that each of those people did, in fact, deserve better and he will have won the narrative.

You're likely right, and it only goes to further the notion that he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground because if he can't manage something like that with any demonstrated ability, it's not hard to argue he mismanaged a lot of other things.

The problem is Ofthe Castro actually had the chance to treat them better, but did jack shit. He can't save face in this scenario.

It could have been handled better. I'm sure that de Castro is not the one who called Feder.

The folks that lost their jobs will be paid for 60 days. That's more than jackshit.

This too shall pass.

All signs certainly point in that direction.

Radio ad sales have been declining the past couple of years. Not a lot you can do about that as listenership continues to decrease.
