Brennamen trying to explain the Bears wins vs losses because of turnover differential. I suppose it could be turnovers or maybe the fact that in two games they were outscored by nearly 100 points in the first half.

I get the point regarding the salary cap ramifications of Cutler's contract vs production. That said, McCown was never a realistic alternative.
He was if you drafted a qb in the first or second round.

Only if they were to start the drafted QB. Going into the season with McCown as the starter while the pick sits and learns would have been even uglier than the current season.
Why? McCown was pretty good here. He probably wouldn't have been as good but he'd probably have been capable.

And if not, well, it's not like this Bears team is having a great season anyways.

He is not capable. Last years seeming competence was an aberration. He has always been bad. He wouldn't have been the best option to replace Cutler had they chosen to go that route.

You loved Tresty. The fact that you've acknowledged his mediocrity just means you're not totally insane.

We saw 2 really bad organizations play each other today.
So who made the worse decision...the Bucs giving Lovie complete control ovef his roster, allowing him to hire the GM, and paying him $5 million per year, or, the Bears making Cutler the highest paid player in the NFL at $22 million this year?
Sometimes people with lots of money do really stupid things.
