This year David Ross, a very good defensive catcher, caught most of his games. That's why his CSR is 2% below league average.

In 2014 it was OVER league average. Lol.

Do you just make random stuff up hoping it is correct?

The Red Sox are signing Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval.

Do they even have money left to spend on Lester? They may not want to go higher than their current offer.

Agreed. Could be good for the Cubs.

I'm feeling less optimistic as the days go on. If Lester wanted to play here, he would be here. The longer is draws out, the more likely some team swoops in with a huge truckload of money and takes him.

The Cubs are in a better position to be that team than most.

The Cubs wouldn't let money be the issue here if they truly want Lester.

Theo and Hoyer should be smart about it...but if he is the guy, no one is outspending the Cubs.

I wouldn't put it past the Yankee to swoop in and sign Lester and Scherzer before spring training

Theocorp has shown that they will not overspend for anyone (except Edwin Jackson). Every other time they had "the guy" they got outbid by someone else. I will believe it when I see it.

Boston has gobs of money coming off the books after the '15 season. Napoli ($16M), Victorino ($13M), Cespedes ($10.5M), Mujica ($4.75M) while Ortiz ($16M) and Buccholtz ($12M) have club options. They can easily sign all three free agents to lower salaries in the first year then bump them up in years 2-5.

Napoli (16M), Victorino (13M), Cespedes (10M) expire in '15. They're fine.

Keyser beat me to it.

I think in all these scenarios with Boston, Cespedes is the guy that gets moved. They could offer him to the Reds for Latos (injury concerns, however) or even throw in some more prospects and try to pry Cueto. Cespedes would look pretty good in LF at GABP

So is it safe to say that Boston is dumb for spending a lot in free agency?

I agree with most likely, I just don't understand why they're smearing him before dumping him.

Do you think Boston put a weight-limit clause in Panda's contract? I can see him becoming Fielder-like (size wise).

I assume they plan to transition him to DH when Papi retires. Also, they don't allow chicken in the clubhouse anymore.

Is this a real opinion? Like, are you actually mad that they haven't done anything yet? Season doesn't start for some time, Jimmy.

Did you want them to sign Hanley or Sandoval for the contracts they got today? How do you fit them based on the current makeup of the team?

Hanley's bat would have helped. .283 with 13 home runs and 71 RBIs.-figure out where to stick that!

don't worry, FSG/henry has picked up a few tricks from owning liverpool for a few years, so look for dustin pedroia to bite somebody in spring training so he can quickly get sold/transferred to the giants for a cool 50mil.

Jerry Crasnick is reporting the Cubs offered 6 years at a $144,000,000.00, and a decision will be next week. What say you Cubs fans?
