Expecting his upward trend to continue puts him in some pretty elite company. You think he wins an MVP?

I think he will have seasons with an OPS over .950.

He was 10th in MVP voting this past season, on a terrible team.

Would you like to discuss Rizzo more in a separate thread, outside of the White Sox section?

Meaning that he continues to creep closer, but never surpasses Abreu in OPS 8)

I want to avoid the complaints of a Sox fan talking about the Cubs.

I'll just keep reading this thread filled with Cubs fans talking about the Sox.

I would expect Abreu is still the main first baseman with LaRoche giving him a break over there once or twice a week. I don't think there is any such thing as "dramatic" defensive improvement at first. Sure, LaRoche is slicker with the glove, but first base defense is pretty much negligible. Although as run scoring continues to decrease, all of the "little things" that were considered unimportant and even mocked during the steroid era suddenly take on a much larger role.

I don't think fielding at 1st is that important, but being able to limit errors from other infielders on their throws to first is huge.

I don't know how you could start Abreu at 1st when you have a gold glove 1B in your lineup at DH.

Well, there are intangibles in the game and as scoring shrinks and the pinball machine numbers disappear people- even SABRmetricians- seem much more willing to acknowledge those intangibles. Abreu is the centerpiece of this team. There is a definite stigma to a young guy (if you consider Abreu young) moving to DH full-time. I think you want your franchise player engaged with the team/game as much as possible rather than simply sitting on the bench waiting to bat four times a game.

Maybe you should look at his splits at first and DH. Fuckin' dumbass.

I agree with JORR here, almost every player in the history of baseball actually puts up worse production as a DH. Laroche might be better at saving Alexei an errant throw here and there, but you don't really want Abreu becoming disengaged by sitting on the bench.

Out of the 86 year sample you had about 20 years of guys using heavy cola which has to skew the numbers to a certain degree.

I would like to see the rest of the money distributed between a middle of the rotation righty and top relief talent.

There was no Cubs discussion before that. pittmike, another Sox fan, brought up Cubs fans and how we would react had the Cubs signed LaRoche.

Sox fans require Cubs fans to post in these threads in order to keep them active. They fish for the Cubs posters.

I see. I don't complain about the White Sox fans discussing Cubs moves in Cubs threads. Cubs fans have no right to lock the subforum from fans of other teams. Looking through every move with only rose-colored glasses would be boring.

Cubs fans complain about the White Sox fans trolling Cubs threads. Or taking shots at the Cubs through White Sox threads.

Which is silly, considering the amount of Cub fans who do the exact same shit to White Sox fans.

A simple "You are correct Rick" would have sufficed.

Not quite, buddy.

I'm not sure you're correct about Cubs fans not allowing Sox fans to discuss the Cubs at all.

As many as you can name, with linked examples. Please then create a searchable index using C#, so that I may peruse the data at my leisure.

My accounting department is fairly accepting of my use of funds, but this one could be hard to explain. And we already have a programmer on staff. :(

No. The reserve. You brought up the Cubs in this thread when discussing the LaRoche signing. Or more specifically, Cubs fans and how they would react if the Cubs had signed 'cha boy.
