Always tough, but even tougher around the Holidays.

Chin up for your family and daughter, Mike. Very sorry to hear :(

Very sorry to hear, Mike.

I lost my Dad right before Thanksgiving also. Tough time but hopefully you'll have some family together and remember the good times.

No matter how long they're with us, it's never long enough. Condolences, Mike.

I guess obviously you need your dad more when you are younger. But when you get to my age it sure seems like I could use him more productively a lot longer now.

My old man is my best friend, Mike. I almost lost him a few years ago. Since then, I've used his perspective more than ever, even as he struggles with his health. I almost couldn't read this thread without choking up. I don't know what you're feeling, and I hope I don't for a long time, but I wish you the best, and I hope you use his wisdom to carry on.

Leash's comment and all this made me think about something about my Dad. He was a Chicago guy. Knew his way around the taverns of the southwest side especially all those great ones where there would be two if not four on opposing corners all in the middle of a residential neighborhood. McKinley Park, Brighton Park, Elsdon and so on.

I swear though on a six foot pool table he could walk in buy a beer and never buy another for the rest of the night. Not much as far as accomplishment but it was just a thing. Not sure I ever beat him without him letting me.

If he wanted a shot though after winning or on a cold fishing night his go to was blackberry brandy. I will remember that and if you ever have no idea what shot to have try it.

Damn dude, all the best to you also. It sucks, my bad was probably my best friend until I moved to Wisconsin, relationship was never quite the same. I miss him greatly.

Sorry man. This is where the "heart" of this board comes out. No cubs-sox BS. Truthful and heartfelt condolences. Life is fleeting. Generations are fleeting. Lost my mom several years ago......Dad is still kicking and pushing 90.

Enjoy every day & sorry for your loss.

I hate that movie! Kevin Costner is blah and have a catch is the dumbest phrase to be uttered in a movie, ever!

"Have a catch", while initially stupid is so much more memorable than saying "do you want to play catch" that we all remember it to this day.

Plus, my Dad's name was Ray. That movie is gloriously manipulative.

Did Timothy Busfield and James Earl Jones talk about selling the farm and say his name about 1000 times in three and a half minutes? I hate that freaking scene.

I've never seen Field of Dreams and I'm fine with that.

You should.

It's the perfect movie for any kid that loves baseball and his Dad.

No. But I'm also one bad decision from being a John.

So it all fits together nicely.

I'm one bad decision from being a Kelly. Good thing my brother stepped in.

I prefer Wall Street, but less for the baseball.

It's terrible. Don't watch it.

I like John and Kelly.

Noisy, I think It's a Wonderful Life is on NBC December 6th & 24th. The Tivoli in DG is showing it 12/13 & 12/14.

Cool. I've kept it on my DVR for a year so I wouldn't have to wait for Xmas eve to watch it this year. I'm targeting around 12/10 for my ceremonial watching this year.

Tivoli would be a cool old school experience though.

I've got it on VHS. My player broke, though.
