Tuned it in on the way home from work.

I can't wait to hear the info from Dan's Bears guy. Should be a great scoop.

Also heard Dan's befuddlement over the prospects of Trestman coming back next year. Dan.....you've been around long enough. This is the Bears. They hardly ever make the correct move in regards to management positions. How could you be so surprised over this?

The surprising move would be the trifecta of dumb being fired and bringing in a football guy to head up operations.

That sounds like a pernicious myth to me.

He's reading copy.

I think Terry just let it slip that the MYSTERY MAN BEHIND CLOSED DOORS that wants to can Trestman is none other than Emery.

There is no way you let Emery bring in another coach. If Trestman goes, so does Emery.

Most teams I'd agree.

Not sure about the Bears.

The classic Bears move is letting a coach they want to fire stay a year longer than they would like to save money, then that producing a great season forcing them to sign him to an extension. That happened with both Lovie and Juron.

Agreed.

They would probably let Emery hire 2 more coaches.

would bear fans accept tanking for 2 years provided a comptent executive/GM is put in to place to managing the tanking and drafting?

i would hope most can see free agency is not a way to build an NFL team

Dan Snyder scoffs at this "draft" of which you speak.

Hell yea.

They've been tanking for most of my life. Might as well do it right at some point.

Depends how much they love Emery. If so, then he can go in and say "look I really fucked this up can I fix it?"

Emery could get another coaching hire. Why not? He's only got the one on his record right?

Look at the guy he hired. Colossal failure. He passed over the reigning Coach of the Year to hire this mope.

Pair his head coaching choice with his drafts and it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

Let's try to predict the line of baffling bullshit the McClaskeys give us at the end of the year.

For your consideration: "Our performance was completely unacceptable, and Marc understands that going forward into next season." In other words: it's accepted

The Bears will sacrifice the D-Coordinator but nobody of repute will take the job with Trestman being in a "win or else" year. After Trestman is sent packing Emery will not hire a "name" coach or even one with NFL experience because that will lead to them expressing how they "did things in ____________." Thus, we will get the typical dysfunctional McClaskey family football management which will include keeping on Pheel (his is one of them) and the media will be expected to fawn over whatever they do. The acceptance of activity begetting the belief of accomplishment, any kind of change being a positive.

Bernstein's "sources" will give us some sort of 1/2 measure. Something could happen, something may happen, somebody may want to make a move, others may not. Nobody matter what happens, Bernstein reported it.

It is my belief that Pasqualoni was hired with this scenario in mind. He moves up to take the job nobody wants. His defense shows some improvement, the offense does as well. They squeak into the playoffs and the whole group gets extended.
