Do these movies take place before or after Anakin became Darth Vader?

Who is the guy in the .gif? Or is that not yet known?

Don't know who the guy is. This is way after Anakin became Vader. The original cast is in this movie as a bunch of old guys. I hear part of the plot may be Luke coming out of hiding to kick some ass.

i completely agree with the first part but i have to give him credit for the "star trek" reboot. he can direct a film competently when given good source material and a script...and a cast.

what'll be missing regardless is the wonder that the original trilogy brought. sure it was campy at times but you could at least see a crew of people who were loving what they did.

I also have enjoyed the Star Trek reboot.

Plus, there really feels like there's an energy to this production from a lot of people working on this because they love it. The force is strong with this one.

Even though I love him for starting all this I am just glad Lucas is out.

Add me to the list of people that enjoyed the Star Trek reboot. I just hope the Star Wars plot doesn't involve any time traveling Jedi or sith... or Ewoks

I loved the first new Star Trek. I think there's a lot to be said for cast that seems to enjoy working with each other, it makes for a much better movie. I'd assume JJ had some part of that. The 2nd one wasn't as good, but the cast was able to patch over a lot of the cracks.

And it's still already better than the prequels.

Were they really that bad?

I thought the second one was good

My main issue with the prequels is the uncomfortable, choppy dialogue. SpFX were awesome, and it's probably the only thing I get out of watching them anymore. The story had some continuity flaws of course and they rushed the end of ROS. I usually have them on as background to sleep if I ever watch them anymore. They are what they are, but I don't dislike them as many do.

Episode II is weird for me, as I LOVE the second half, but the first half is a plodding drag.

Ryan vs. Dorkman, one and two are still solid in my opinion:

Those guys were so serious, and the choreograph was solid.

If they stay true to the cinematography of the original trilogy these will be great.

I used to collect the "Star Wars Guys" (action figures) as a kid, but I honestly haven't watched the original trilogy in probably 25 years, and I've never seen any of the 3 prequels.
Never.
I got the Original trilogy boxset on VHS, whenever the hell that came out (edit- 1995), and they sat unwatched until I sold them on eBay.
This is the one I had. Image
I do have 1080p torrents of the original 3 on my PS3, maybe I should fucking watch 'em.

This new one looks pretty cool, though.

There is a rumored re-release of the original cuts of the film upcoming. (taking out all of Lucas' special edition edits and cgi bullshit). I'm sure they will be out before the new film is released at xmas.

I still have my Yoda hand puppet with the hair. That's about it.
Do you have the Darth Vader figure storage container?

I don't. The majority of my "toys" are from the 2nd batch of films. I think I have all of the Darth Maul figures...he's my dude.

Looking forward to this, it looks pretty good. I also have gotten my toys down to one bin. Maybe I should try to sell them on eBay but I can't
seem to pull the trigger and not sure if any of it is worth anything. Have about 2 dozen guys still in packaging from the prequels my mom
bought me from a garage sale and then I have 6-7 12 inch figurines of various characters they used to sell at Suncoast Video in the mall.

I don’t like to overthink or put too much analysis into movies. I either enjoy them or I don’t. The criticisms of Lucas are certainly valid, but I was still able to find enjoyment in the prequels. Yes, episode 1 was the weakest and the whole character of Jar Jar was stupid. Looking at JJ Abrams resume as director, I liked the Star Trek reboot, but could really care less about anything else he’s done. I will go see the new one, but I’m not as excited as others.

I am excited WD about this. I am afraid of JJ though. Very afraid.

JJ killed the first Star Trek reboot, he's pretty low on my list of concerns.
