Bears Thoughts:

- As a special note, we are not far off from the first edition of NFL Draft Countdown specials.

1) Adrian Peterson was excellent in his cuts. How many times did he just change direction, and then simply outrun Bear defenders. The Bears run defense was swiss cheese, and it was exposed by an excellent running back, young or not.

2) The Bears have major problems at their safety position. Adam Archuleta should never be in the game in any obvious passing situation and when he's on the field should be in the box. He can't cover anyone.

3) Lance Briggs is a stud.

4) How does 6-10 or 7-9 sound ? This is just not the same team as last season. The defense, which did struggle vs the run last season, is having more of the same struggles this season. Offensively, there are issues everywhere. It's great that they made a nice comeback, but it was another game where the offense was a no show - until late this time. They have one WR (Berrian), an average running back at best in Benson, and an aging offensive line. Then there's Brian Griese.....

5) When asked why the Bears don't simply run Hester deep, and throw it to him, Hub Arkush often answers that the NFL is too complicated to do that, and he's not the fastest player in the league (meaning he can be covered).....Hate to disagree with Hub, but it seems to have worked pretty well today. Hopefully, it won't take the coaching staff another 6 weeks to give it another shot, that is unless they are happy throwing the ball to a RB who drops as many as he catches.

6) Greg Olsen and Desmond Clark are fun to watch. We haven't had 1 decent receiving TE over the year's, and now we have 2.

The only point I think you missed is Urlacher is having a very below average year by his standards.

Urlacher was the invisible man yesterday. Shouldn't the poster boy for the Bears "superior" defense step up on the line once and a while and make a tackle on a running play?

Sometimes these guys just dig themselves into positions, and just over think things way too much. This was simple - just give it a shot, and the worst that happens is Griese can't connect with him, and we still don't have a big play component in our offense.

I know they hooked up on that play. However, there was another play where Hester was able to take the safety out of the play by running down the field. Either way, he has value.

This was just another example of Hub attempting to show his superiority over the unwashed.

It's even more ridiculous when you consider that Hub spends a few minutes each segment he has bashing the WR's, for good reason, but then comes up with some ridiculous answer as to why it was a waste to take a shot with a freak like Hester.
