Well, when you specifically state that you dont recruit the best and brightest, that is bound to happen.

He killed the guy, on video, with a maneuver specifically banned by the NYPD Patrol guide as the guy said "I cant breathe"

Best to just freeze and just do what they say until you can lawyer-up and turn the tables (or, if you know you're fucked, at least ride it out and stay alive).

The NY choke-out had absolutely nothing to do with a 'think fast' scenario.

Even if one wants to presume that there wasn't the slightest bit of "I'm a white NY city cop and I can do whatever the hell I want to do to this here dumb n!gger" mentality involved, it still is fucking offensive that a cop - on video - choked to death a citizen for selling loose cigarettes, tried to lie by saying he died of a heart attack, hade a coroner emphatically rule it a homicide, and literally nothing happens.

You'd think that people who are consciously and actively breaking the law would have a better understanding of that than anyone on a message-board. There's no pride or honor in getting killed for nothing.

[I don't even think it's the case of race a lot of times with the police. I believe many feel they can do whatever they want because they are cops and that you should just fall in line. Especially when dealing with the lower class of any ethnic group.

As a lawyer you really believe it's best to do whatever the police tell you to do? That's a bit surprising coming from you. You don't strike me as a guy that will just do whatever any person in a position of authority tells you to do.

"If he had not had asthma and a heart condition and was so obese, almost definitely he would not have died from this,” King said. "The police had no reason to know he was in serious condition."

The city's medical examiner ruled Garner's death a homicide and attributed it to the use of a chokehold by officer Daniel Pantaleo. Garner had repeatedly exclaimed "I can't breathe" during the arrest, as seen in the video recorded by bystanders. Nevertheless, King questioned whether Garner had pleaded for help, telling Blitzer, "The fact is, if you can’t breathe, you can’t talk." He added: "I have no doubt if that was a 350-pound white guy, he would have been treated the same."

King also suggested recently that President Obama invite Darren Wilson to the White House to thank the former Ferguson police officer for doing his job.
