So, for the last 15 minutes I have heard Terry and Daniel talk about "Their Guys" at Halas hall.

I know Dan has a guy, Scott Hagel, director of communications. Not that he gets a ton from the guy, as he only tells Dan what he wants on the air. The funny thing is that the McCaskeys should figure that one out quickly and fire Hagel for even talking to Bernstein.

The only guy I think Terry even knows in the building not named Mccaskey is Tony Medlin. The equipment manager, who I dont doubt has some info regarding what is said after games, between players, coaches, etc. He would be the kind of guy in the locker who everyone assumes he is dumb and doesnt listen, but the guy hears everything and has for years.

However, to think Tony Medlin is hanging around Emery's office or the CEO's office and talking to them about the future of the team is where part of the joke starts.

The second part of the joke is that Terry isnt talking to anyone! And he is just making this shit up...

And the final part is Terry telling stories about talking to guys "last night"....as if someone at the Bears is waiting until they leave Halas Hall to call Terry and go over the future plans of the Bears...

Just like Manti Te'o, at some point his lie became so deep, he thought he had a GF! Terry now cant stop talking about his guy at the Bears that he gets daily updates from, I think he actually beleives he has a guy!

I think Dan's source is himself. Whenever I hear him talk about his "inside" information, they are almost always in line with something he believes and tend to be a verification of his own thoughts. They almost never provide definitive information, just a bunch of possibilities that most often, allow him to wiggle out of stating anything 100% incorrectly.

I think Boers is just full of crap. He always knows things, after the fact.

If Dan truly had a source that provided the type of valuable inside information that he claims, I don't think it would be difficult for the organization to find the leak since it can only be a handful of people. Dan also tends to have these "sources" at the top of each organization in the city.

I also have my doubts that these would be the guys who are being leaked too. This is the most negative, over the top hateful show in the city, yet these teams, that are consistently being torn apart, sometime over the most minor of things, is being fed the type of information that Bernstein can get during a commercial break is just not believable to me.

At best, guys like Matt and Dan are "sourcing" information from Twitter as sources.

If Hagel is a really smart professional, he puts out exactly what he wants Dan to repeat. If Medlin is who you claim he is, he probably works off the tips that come at season's end. So, betraying the locker room doesn't pay in the short or long run.

Personally, I think they talk to other media types and present what others wouldn't go with because of a fear of attribution or retribution.

I may believe that he has a source in the Cub organization. Dan liked to put his reporters cap on when the rooftop legal batting was raging, but, didn't realize that he sounded a like a puppet for the Cubs position on it.

That's because literally nobody was supporting the rooftop owners.

When Dan decides to play reporter, should he be supporting/advocating a point of view though? That's what he did repeatedly. There is another side to that story, even if it wasn't going to win.

I'm pretty sure he was wrong on a lot of his "reporting" on that anyway. I heard him say something like. George Loukas, the most obstinate of the rooftop guys, is now a business partner. I don't believe Loukas was a hardliner. In fact, I think he was the guy who pushed the others to take the 17% deal and now he's at the forefront of cooperating with the Cubs this time around. bigfan?

Agree with JORR on the Cubs. he had nothing.

Loukas wants the Cubs to be great, he makes so much more from his bars than the rooftops.

Dan was a Bears beat guy recent enough that he still knows Hagel well enough.

You really what us to believe this is Dan's guy? How stupid do you think we are? Polar opposites - Danny would never have a friend who looks like that.

There's no way Boers has cultivated any new sources since he's been on the radio full-time. I'm sure at one time he had people to get information from on all the city's teams. That time is long gone.

The minimal number of people who potentially be his Bears' source will have to had to worked at Halas Hall for at least 20 years and have access to top-level conversations and information. The turnover in typically NFL front office makes his source non-existent.

Remember Boers' reporting of a contract extension for Lovie Smith during Phil Emery's first year as GM? Lovie was fired after that season.

Boers is full of shit and trying to keep himself relevant on a show where he's already been marginalized.

Was Terry ever a beat guy in Chicago? Maybe he worked the Bulls for a quick minute.

he was a beat guy for the first few years of Jordans career, of which he got the job because the guy who was assigned to it, took another job the day before the Bulls season started. He filled in the season before and in the late 70's.

"So who you crappin" Ditka to Terry Boers ....and that might have been the last time he was there, 25 years ago, so who was there 25 years ago not named mccaskey...and its Tony Medlen. Ted might have been there, but I would guess Terry didnt know the back room accountant at the time. There is a very very small chance his guy is Brian McCaskey, whom many have said is normal and should be running the team.

Terry's guy called at halftime last night to tell him that Trestman would be fired if the Bears were blown out.

It's this. I don't understand how some believe Terry's completely making it up, that'd require more effort.

Like I said, he probably knows someone there, but they dont call him to go over the inner workings of the Bears! lol

1. It doesnt happen
2. That person he might know, doesnt know shit.
3. He hasnt spoke to the guy in years.

If you walked around Halas Hall and asked who knows TB personally, the list would be very small, Would be even smaller if you asked who has spoke to him in the last 5 years. Might be one!

that's why Hatchetman is saying it's not anyone who knows TB personally. But someone talking to an old sportswriter who talks to Terry.

yeah, Dan was pretty much dead wrong on his reporting and it always skewed toward Cub aspirations for how things would happen rather than what was actually happening

I believe Big Fan when he says his guy is Hagel. I also think Bernstein makes shit up under the guise of his Cubs and Bears guy.

What I don't get is Hagel. What's the up side for him running to Danny boy. There is none. But the down side is being fired. Emery knows what goes on in sports radio. He has to know it's Hagel.

Like that weird Marshall press conference where he blamed the girl that he hit. Dan said "I'm gonna call my guy during the commercial break."

They come back from the break.

Dan: Just talked to my guy. THE BEARS TOLD MARSHALL NOT TO TALK. THE BEARS ARE SCRARED TO DEATH OF MARSHALL.

Terry: Yep. I knew that.

Again, what's the upside for Hagel running to Bernstein saying that he's scared of Brandon Marshall? Doesn't that just make him, the PR guy, look like a pussy? (Sorry, Dan. I know women are strong. But it's a good word.)

Actually, on second thought. Hagel told Bernstien that "Everybody is scared of Brandon Marshall" to save his own ass. So there was an upside in his mind.

He knew people were gonna rip the press conference of Brandon Marshall. After hearing the press confrence, Hagel knew it was bad. It's his job to not allow this to happen. He let it happen. So he simply told Bernstein that "He's scared of Brandon Marshall". Implying that he's dealing with a dangerous person. Hagel basically told Bernstein that "the press confrence had to happen or else Brandon Marshall would have murdered him". Thus it takes Hagel of the hook for being bad at his job.

No way Emery goes to the McCaskeys now to fire Scott Hagel. lol

They would look at Emery and say 'dont you have bigger issues?"

AND WHY CANT A GM FIRE A COMMUNICATIONS GUY!

True. Can't fire him with this season. But do you think Emery at least gives Hagel some hard stares as they pass in the Halas hallways as if to say "I know your the leak to Bernstein."?

He doesn't have to fire him. But he could certainly could confront Hagel and say "Stop leaking shit to Bernstein". Him not doing that shows him as a weak GM.
