Assuming that's representative of how it will really look, it's clear now - if it wasn't before - that people bemoaning the signage additions to Wrigley were either mentally defective, had a fiscal axe to grind, or a bit of both.

It isn't, so I'll cut you off there.

Just name names.

Beth Murphy is all of those things and then some.

I do hope it just says "Financial" on that one sign. Just remind everyone at the park how the shitbag owner inherited all his shitbag wealth from his shitbag dad by ripping off the middle class.

What would the one at Comiskey say? "TAX LOOPHOLES"?

Are we supposed to believe that Cubs logo on the light tower is going to be a Cubs logo and not a corporate logo? Same with "Wrigley Field" on the video board. Fuckin' we know where we are and who plays here. It's gonna be a bitch to sit in the grandstand down the right-field line and sit next to some piece of giant humming fluorescence making you aware of a gas station you already see ten times a day anyway.

Those are concept pieces. Everyone knows those will be advertisements. However, since no one had paid at the time of their creation, they aren't going to give any companies free advertising.

We know the cursive at the top of the main videoboard is Wintrust Bank. We know right field is Budweiser. The rest we will see.

Name names? Do you even know what you're typing half the time?

It was a general comment to idiots both here and abroad who couldn't wait to overturn the tables and crack the whip because the sacrosanct grounds of Wrigley were being mined for the almighty dollar.

Eat some sugar or something. Stabilize.

I thought you were referencing the rooftop owners. I'm such a bad guy for that.

Would you prefer that people blindly assent to whatever the children of the corn want to slap up in the name of Monetization? I'm not here to root for billboards.

"We will see." HAHA. They're not putting the Mona Lisa up there, it'll just about another brand for you to bow before.

Also, I don't care if they paid for it. The entire point of National Landmarks is that the ultra rich can't just soak these places and turn them into what Wrigley is obviously going to become.

I'd prefer folks let them actually prove they're not interested in building a winner but just interested in making money before actually lodging an otherwise empty complaint over it.

The burden of proof is on the people who engineered five years of failure while scrounging for corporate welfare at every turn. How much more do I have to "let" them do?

My thought is that it might be cool be have a videoboard in there and just modernize it a little
bit. I don't think they are going overboard or anything with it. I'll admit that "fan friendly"
is a pretty generic term.

And why does that bother you? Wrigley Field is not a National Historic Landmark. It is eligible to be one. It never became one. It is simply a city landmark.

Even if it does become one, that does not mean it can never be updated or modernized. The Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium are both National Historic Landmarks. Both have been heavily changed over the years.

Wrigley Field is first and foremost an entertainment facility for a professional sports franchise. It isn't a State Park.

Everything is a cog in our big, brutal sucking economy. If it exists, it must be a commodity. Wrigley belongs to Cubs fans, and they watched some loser hick from Nebraska steal it from them.

This may be the biggest attitude change I've seen in the past 10 years.

Wrigley is no longer special. 10 years ago, you'd be yelled at if you thought that Wrigley wasn't one of the truly great landmarks in our whole country.

Someone's got you being their bitch. It could be your employer, a bank, the IRS... if all you're looking for is a deed to determine true ownerships take a look at those paychecks you need to pay all those bills.

I don't think you know what the term 'mutual benefit' means.

Actually, Wrigley Field is special, which is why the value of advertising will be so high in a special place. This will help the Cubs win while expanding revenue streams and fast-casual dining options.

I'm not going to go too far off the rails here, but if your idea of mutual benefit is surrendering 1/3 of your life so you can pay bills for stuff as ubiquitous as water I don't know what to say.

40 divided by 168 is 23.8%. Not 33%. And sometimes it is less than 40 a week. And sometimes it is more. It fluctuates, based on how quickly I get things done and what needs to get done. Today I worked about 4 hours. Additionally, I believe most folks paychecks cover more than water, food, rent, etc. So for less than one fourth of my time, I get to enjoy the other 75% pretty well.

I like this trade, as it is mutually beneficial to my company and myself.

edit: And you know what...out of the x amount of hours I spend at the office or working from home every week... some of those are even *gasp* enjoyable.

I like what I do.

Not bad. But mock ups always look better than the real thing.

If bleachers are behind now then how bad would they have been behind if we had weather like last year?!

I don't think anything is behind. That might have been a way to build public pressure to help negotiate with a union or some workers or something.

Oh, the Cubs indeed

"It's looking like the bleachers won't be ready for opening day," Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts said. "We just want to make sure everyone who has season tickets in the bleachers feels like they're made whole. There will be some options for everyone.''

''We'll take care of it.''

There's a strong possibility that the bleacher section won't be ready through at least April, but Ricketts declined to say whether the delays could last through May. About 1,000 season-ticket holders could have the option of being relocated to the grandstand or receive refunds.

Maybe you shouldn't have torn down bleachers that weren't even fuckin' nine years old. I'm sure the advertisements will be exquisite, though.
