Absolutely pathetic on how they are now distancing themselves over their own CIRCLEJERK(s) (two words?) over let's see:

Acquiring Jay...and THEN Resigning him
Acquiring Marshall
Hiring Emery
Hiring Trestman...

forte is elite if only because he can do everything and do it well. He's one of the best receiving backs in the league, has average speed, he is a good blocker, he's ok running between the tackles... gets what's blocked usually.... and he's extremely durable and never has to come off the field. add it all up and the sum of the parts make him elite

Agreed. He's a great receiver and above average at everything else. You don't have to be a special runner in order to be elite. You don't put up the numbers he has behind some awful offensive lines and some terrible coaches if you aren't elite.

I don't think of Forte as being elite either - just a very good all around player. I suppose it depends upon how you define elite. In my mind, an elite player is one who you must gameplan against. I highly doubt opposing coaches spend a great deal of time trying to figure a way to shut him down.

Did you watch the game last night? That's one of the first things that was brought up. Dallas said if they could stop Forte then they would shut down the Bears offense.

Forte is good. Not great or elite. He is not a Hall of Famer. Cuz I've heard that talk start. No. He's not.

The one thing that pisses me off about him is, for as big and strong as he is, he's not tough. He goes down easily at times when other backs would stay on their feet.

Matt Forte is an elite running back. Just because he's not the best in any single category does not disqualify him. He is an every down back who excels at many things. Very few backs in the league can do what he does.

I think we're judging a bit harshly.

Still don't understand why you would distance yourself from the Marshall trade. Great trade. He hasn't been a problem, although this season has been with his production.

I understand that Bernstein likes to have his targets, but I don't see Marshall has being a problem here.

holy shit for the first time ever i got a text read on the show! when that bears acronym conspiracy dude called up and started telling us about how if you combine this pool of potential coaches' first letters of their last name last names you get GSH[somethng] and he started trailing off while explaining it while dan and terry HUH?!?!?!'d and then tanny wasn't fucking around with the quick shotgun and then we were 100% returned to the matrix to continue our days as duracell batteries who aren't privy to know the truth.

...so i had to let them know that they did the world wrong by cutting that guy off because HE WAS SPREADING THE GOSPEL HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT! HE WAS GOING TO BLOW THE DOORS OFF OF THE GIANT CONSPIRACY THAT YOU KNOW AS "THE NFL" aka THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE, but it really stands for NEW FUTURE LEGISLATION because if you are to combine the second letter of every majority/owner's middle name you get a bunch of letters that when combined with the shanshu prophecy act as a table of contents to find the hidden messages in the NFL rulebook, which oh by the way happens to be THE WORD OF GOD which is of course in a state of perpetual temporal grace which means that, much like the bible code, after every big event happens you can find references to it in the bible which means the bible always knew it was there, it's just that we didn't know what to look for, not that you can go and take any voluminous book and find these references to world events in them (although some bible code hater was challenged to take another non-bible book and find 9/11 references in it and i think the guy discovered them in moby dick =)

"bears acronym guy" = what the last caller just branded the hero that both WSCR and CSFMB need, but don't deserve right now. so thats what we call him.

so yeah doing my best impression of an old man yelling at a cloud i was like WTF DID YOU SHOTGUN HIM FOR?!?!?! YOU CAN'T SUPPRESS THE TRUTH!!!!! and out of all the things i've ever texted that show, that one gets on the air. thanks dan! i felt like a special snowflake and i even let my dad know. move over johnny doingthings (who i once sat next to @ a sox/yankees game true story!) i'm johnny kickingass today!

btw man one of the last couple'a callers (the middle-aged-to-near-elderly black guy) did a masterful job of subtly calling out b&b on their bullshit when he said "HEY REMEMBER WHEN YOU GUYS SAID SOMETHING LIKE PHIL EMERY OBVIOUSLY SEES WHAT WE SEE OUT THERE ---- YEAH WHAT HAPPENED WITH THAT?!?!"

that's a tacit reference towards the recently-disowned "GOLDEN AGE OF GMs IN CHICAGO!!!!" stance that dan won't even cop to taking, what, ~2-3yrs ago? yeah he doesn't know about that. he doesn't remember that. suuuuurrreeeee.

so yeah whoever you are, mister ~50-65 year old black guy arsed enough to call up b&b, you are my browns' chicken caller of the day!

He's not.

And he wasn't getting through holes last night and looked a step slow.

You are citing a game in which Forte ran for 26 yards with a 2 yard average per carry as an example of him being elite? At least you didn't go with the previous game where he averaged 1.2 yards per carry.
I agree that he is a very good (and valuable) player. Just not elite.

Doesn't using the term "elite" demand harsh judgement by definition? Being very good at many things makes you valuable...not elite.

Ok, I get it now. This is a bit along the lines of the Cutler defense. Less funny though.

Anyone who thinks Forte is an elite running back is delusional. No explosiveness, can't break the first tackle and has average vision. He can run routes decent, has decent hands and can pick up the blitz. Good running back, not an elite one.

LB Coach: make sure you watch #22 coming out of the backfield.
LB: OK

3.5 seconds.

Third in the NFL for total yards from scrimmage going into this weekend while in the middle of a down year.

An elite RB doesn't get tackled by the first defender to touch him. An elite RB has an extra gear, and doesn't get caught from behind, when he breaks into the secondary.

I would put him in the very good category. His durability can't be questioned.

Also averaging 65.7 yds/g rushing & a 4.0 avg per carry.

As I stated previously, I believe Forte is a very good all-around player. I just don't think the term elite running back applies.
