Should be interesting today. Will he keep hammering away at how dumb Rose is or applaud the message? Also, does he even bring up one his ALS writing an article with an opposite viewpoint on Rose?

To your second question, nope.

I'm sure if someone asks what they think about it, he'll just commen he hasn't read it etc.

Which could open the door for a delightful WYC with his Trestman comments

So are we at the point where it is racist to hint that a guy who has shown himself to be mush mouthed through the years and who was sufficiently uncomfortable with his own test taking abilities that he had someone sub in for him on the SAT might not be bright..

Yes. Because Dan Bernstein.

I'm sure he is more a victim of his surroundings which in turn contributed to the man he is today. I could not imagine growing up wondering everyday if I'm going to get picked off. I don't think an education moves to the top of anyone's list when your busy looking over your shoulder.

I'd say cancel Bowen and all Bears guests for the week. I'm surprised we don't have a Joe Cowley hit scheduled where he speculates whether Rose put on the "I Can't Breathe" shirt inside-out before Rose's 'people' told him the correct way to wear it.

I think Dan stepped in it here because it's one thing to say Derrick Rose is dumb, it's another to say he's too dumb to know what a shirt means and/or didn't even decide himself to wear it, AND he has to prove otherwise by addressing Dan Bernstein's questions on the matter. I'm with TenMorePageviews in saying that the shirt was a message enough, and Bernstein was no better than those who dismiss a protester's message because an apostrophe is misplaced on the sign they hold. Plus, as others have said @Berns, the meaning of the shirt concerns something Derrick Rose is far more familiar with than Bernstein.

Honestly Bernstein could've been just as patronizing while supporting Rose, figuring 'good, the shirt is simple and supports my new Twitter cause, so he can't fuck this up by opening his dumb mouth'

yeah because if i remember old WGN promos correctly that's because Tom Skilling is busy CREATING the weather *ominous thunderclap/s on the horizon *

and then his brother jeff takes all of their $$$ and hides it in one of his tax shelters with explicit instructions to not open until 2035 or whenever he gets out of prison.

Painting Bernstein as Darren Rovellian is a nice touch. He did actually question how Adidas would feel

Dan "steps in it" every day, but never bears any consequence....somehow. I don't understand.

What if Rush Limbaugh said some of the shit Dan does?

I don't think any amount of pseudo-intellectual puffery is going to shield him from the coming deserved shitstorm. At best he'll try to hide behind the shock-jock label, but by tonight that may be a too small and ineffective umbrella under which to hide.

I don't want twitter-based outrage. I don't want people to try to get him fired. Just clown him for it and hope he learns to give up the racial shit.

The shirt is like wearing something with Live Strong on it...kind of pithy.

A statement would have far more impact.

It would be kind of fun if some other show played Ain't That A Kick In The Head whenever his name was referenced.

Yeah. I just want him belittled like one of his callers at the national level.

Dan needs to understand that for a guy whose entire thing is to at all times sound smart about all things, his weird takes on the differences between black people and white people make him sound like either an open-mic-night dipshit or Mike North.

One big difference is that Limbaugh and his show incite people to hate, whereas Dan just belches out some ignorant nonsense every now and then and no one really notices or cares.

Bernstein reached that point a long time ago. Any time a Chicago accented caller says that a black athlete is stupid, Dan calls him racist. Even if that black athlete is, in fact, stupid. Back in the Goff days, Goffer would punctuate the sentiment by playing the "Ain't that a kick in the head" song which was the "You're a racist" song of the B&B show for years. So you can certainly throw it back at Bernstein since he's doing it. As I've said before, if you're highly educated and well spoken, it's OK to be a racist in Bernstein's mind.

Boy, you must listen to Rush Limbaugh every single day!

Or do you just read the show thread?

this is Dan's playbook basically getting stolen from him and being used on him. the best part is that Dan isn't wrong in what he said but the mob thats forming won't care. just like he doesn't care when he uses it.

So, instead of "Hey, Dan. The editor of Ebony magazine called you a racist due to your comments about Derrick Rose. How about that?" we get backpedaling, criticism of Jordan, and praise for LeBron.
