It's only a hunch based on the truism of FA negotiations... usually the team willing to commit to the breaking point (in this case; 7th year) is unknown or very late in the game to the table. Giants have money to spend, and no reliable starters after MadBum

Yup, seems like the Giants have gained a lot of steam lately. They have turned in to my prediction just based on my parsing of tweets.

Not if it handcuffs a team on future moves with a more likely positive contribution for the money.

I want Lester, for a fair market price. I also want Scherzer for a fair market price, and wanted Russell Martin for a fair market price. Next year I want Johnny Cueto for a fair market price.

6/150 and 7/168 are overpaying imo. Even in this market.

6/140 is fair. If he wants more years or more per, thanks but no thanks. His track record isnt good enough for me to feel comfortable.

Having said that, I think it's BOS or SF unless Cubs bend over and fork over big cash.

I heard Heyman or one of the national reporters say that it actually wasn't about money. More along the lines of where he would more comfortable or something along those lines.

I just had a front office person tell me, "Don't count out the #yankees with Jon Lester.'' Scout hearing the same thing.
