Unique strategy. I hope it pans out.
I'm not sure it is smart to copy "Losing GM" Billy Beane.

Hurry. Get your tickets now. They will be extremely hard to come across once the season starts.

Coop already started, 'if this doesnt get fans to come out then there is something wrong" , so dont accuse cub fans of starting the attendance issues, here it is, first interview of the season, which hasnt even started yet.

I get why the White Sox organization wants people to come out. I don't get why Cubs fans would care.

#WhiteSox get Samardzija & Robertson: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ml ... /20122749/ … …. Now only have gaping holes in the everyday lineup at 3B, 2B, LF and C.

new manager.

 True.

Exactly.

Who is going to manage this crew?.

We've seen the problems caused when a crew isn't managed properly

Long term he's a starter but I wouldn't be surprised if he spent next year in the bullpen.

I don't think so. He's a bullpen arm and signing Robertson doesn't change that. This just gives him more time to develop.

Yes people forget Sale started in the pen rather than stay longer in minors.

Thanks Dan the Sox fan.

3B was handled fine last year and will be covered perfectly if they find someone to platoon against LH. Gillaspie is a +.300 hitter with plenty of double/triple power against RHP.

Catcher, while not a perfect solution was above league average in production last year. Flowers EARNED another shot.

They have plenty of internal options at 2B. If they don't feel confident in those players, it isn't all the difficult to find a stop gap with better production than Beckham last year.

The truth is the Sox offense was good enough to win last year even with major injuries and it has already been upgraded

I'm sure Dan knows plenty about gaping but the Sox do not have gaping holes/

Not sure what to think about these moves.

Do not like giving so much money and a draft pick for a closer. But the pen did blow last year, so hopefully he will help solidify that. Slow way up on the talk of having a bullpen as good as the Royals...

I have always liked Shark, and I am glad to see him back in Chicago. But is there any way they can sign him to an extension?

If you cannot sign him long term then this was a bad deal.

Better wait, Bruce Levine says it's not a done deal yet.

He was right about Maddon not being a done deal until it was done the day after everyone already knew it was a done deal. So, better hold on.

No, it really was not. Semien was a butcher in the field. He always came up big in late inning situations but he just hasn't looked like an MLB hitter to me. Anyway, if the lose Shark, they will end up getting a prospect of similar quality.

I think it was you who was doing backflips about Hammel at $10 million per. Here is a guy the Sox are getting for the same money who is a true upper middle of the rotation spot holder and all they had to give up was some magic beans.

Do you want to throw him to the wolves or ease him in? Unless you expect him to be Mark Prior right away spending some time in the bullpen is probably the best way to go.

Right. That's the old Dodger way. Break the guy into the big leagues in the bullpen. The Sox have done it successfully with Buehrle and Sale.
