It's easier than just waitin' around to die.

This game is largely a repeat of last night's but on the road: elite goalie, bad power play, team's too good for what it is, annoying fanbase. Darling should be in net; if Raanta was cowering from Subban's slapper, he'd have turned into a puddle of piss against Weber's. In fairness, so would I. Evenly matched numbers coming into this one, but I think the Hawks' are more legit. Nashville's kill is pretty weak but they hardly ever take penalties.

Klas Dahlbeck makes his debut with Rozsival tonight. He's supposed to be a high-IQ stay-at-home youngster in the mold of Trevor van Riemsdyk (miss u), but not so high-IQ that he can safely pair up with Rundblad. Okay. A win here vaults the Hawks from third place to first in the Central. Unfortunately, the Isles booted an early 3-goal lead to the Blues this afternoon and lost 6-4. We'll see them at Nassau in a week.

Hawks: 17-8-1 (35), 14-9-3 adjusted (29), 37.111 expected
Perds: 17-6-2 (36), 14-7-4 adjusted (32), 32.355 expected

Hawks: 36.0 shots for (1st), 28.5 shots against (9th)
Perds: 31.0 shots for (7th), 27.6 shots against (7th)

Hawks: 3.038 scored (7th), 2.000 allowed (T-1st), 1.038 differential (2nd)
Perds: 2.640 scored (17th), 2.000 allowed (T-1st), .640 differential (5th)

Hawks: 8.3 PIM/game (3rd)
Perds: 7.0 PIM/game (1st)

Hawks: 20/107 18.7% on the power play (17th), 71/78 91.0% on the kill (1st)
Perds: 9/77 11.7% on the power play (27th), 53/67 79.1% on the kill (20th)

Good game so far. Everyone's clicking. The vaunted high-energy Perds are mostly just fumbling around.

I'm sorry but Scott Darling is your back up goalie.

Darling stood tall through some pretty scary sequences tonight. Hell of a find. Great to see Saad and Hossa get their points tonight. First place!

lol at Ribiero taking the "fuck it I'm just calling the game" penalty.

So what shall Q do with the lines when Sharp is ready to come back in a few days? You can't mess with the top two lines right now, and as much as I rag on Nordstrom for being something of an invisible man, that fourth line is working shutdown magic. I guess you have to put him with Bickell and Shaw for now with Carcillo to the press box, don't you?

Thats what is going to fuck this run up, trying to get Sharp back up to speed. Bench Bickell maybe?

I would not mind that. Bickell is frustrating. I'd like to move him once the cellar-selling starts if any of them will have.

What's going to fuck this run up is that after this gimme against Jersey, it's a three-in-four against Boston, who's finally coming together, Long Island, who can score on you at will, and then a home game after a road game against Calgary, who are apparently impossible to beat. Three points out of six will be good there.

I wonder whether Sharp can be made to take a conditioning assignment in Rockford. He might have the service time to block that. I'm not sure. Even if he could, it's even odds that he gets re-injured because some punk fuck Milwaukee Admiral wants to make a name for himself.

The Hawks never should have given Bickell the big contract, & I said so before & after they did it. He just isn't a $5 million per year player.

Guess that's why he only makes $4 million per year.

I guess you do: Sharp, who’s missed the last 14 games with a knee injury, will play right wing on a line with Byran [sic] Bickell and Andrew Shaw.

That line has some real potential to do nothing .

Yeah, Sharp out of position, Shaw out of position, and Bickell being himself is not a recipe for success.

Last year it was $5 million with a $1 million signing bonus. $4 million this year is still way too much for this guy. They should have dumped him.
