Why is it always so black and white with you? There can be more than two options.

Right. This is one of those few times where its just two.

No it's not. This is even sillier than when BRick tries to make it black and white. There's a huge difference between 1920 and 1995. I don't think that's hard to get.

Are we seeing the birth of Obtuse Bryan right now also?

What are you talking about? Where are you even getting those years?

If were talking historically, the Sox have been terrible and the Cubs a little worse.

If were just looking at the last 25 years or so, the Cubs and Sox have been about average (Sox having the leg up of course on the title.)

If you want to compare the two teams, it has to be a level comparison.

It IS a level comparison. You, Rick, and I are all within a few years of age. All Rick and I are saying is that history that happened before we were born or before we were fans are irrelevant. Recent history, since everyone has been alive, is much more relevant.

A few posts ago you were trying to say you have to include all history or you can't include any of it. That's what makes no sense.

That's what Im saying. Rick isnt.

Rick is judging one team on their total history and another one the last 25 years.

And when I said it matters or it doesnt, I mean ancient history. I mean either pre 80's stuff matters or it doesnt. It cant matter for one and not the other.

Not sure where you are getting any of this. Rick clarified his position in a post you even responded to. He was referencing our lifetimes.

No.

Once again, misstating my position. I'm starting to think I'm not the problem in these baseball debates.

I think we have to give all the members of Cubbie Nation a one day pass for non-sensical comments today. It's been a pretty brutal Hot Stove season for them.

I said history either matters or it doesnt. Either we start at 1980 or 90 for both teams or we take the whole history for both teams.

Maybe I wasnt clear. Rick seemed to disagree with this.

See, Rick was saying that the Cubs should be judged on their entire history and the Sox on recent history.

He's trying to back away now

Not once did he come close to saying that. I asked you for a post showing it and you responded with a link to a post where he explicitly stated our lifetimes.

What are you talking about?

I said either history matters or it doesnt and Rick said The Cubs were different because they havent won a title

Any rational person would look at that and think "He's saying its different for the Cubs"

If he agreed with me that history doesnt matter, then he should have said I agree. Not But the Cubs are different....

I'm not backing away from anything. You asked for a year. I picked one. I figure if you are going to ignore what I am saying anyways I might as well pick the pinnacle of Chicago baseball.

It is clear and FavreFan has restated it many times.

I can't help the helpless. At some point you have to put forth the effort here.

This is why we need Frank back. Rick, JORR, and I are the only ones left here now who can talk baseball rationally.

What year should we go back to, to judge the White Sox and Cubs?

Are you legitimately saying 2005? Or was it 1990?

I just need a clarification. Give me the year and we'll go off of that.

Is the year 1990 for both teams or just the Sox?

It's a very simple question. I assumed you were only talking about the White Sox when you first said that since you used the word "cared"

Im just asking if that's how you look at both teams.

What about the ten times it was explained after that?

Your post about how its different for the Cubs because they havent won a title quoted me asking if its the same for both teams

Why would you answer with a story about how the Cubs are different if your answer was "Yes, same for both" ?

It's different because the Sox fan has a World Series title in their lifetime, and the Cubs fan does not.

It sucks that the Sox didn't win a title in the 90s, but they won it in 2005. It sucks the Cubs didn't win a title in the 90s, and they didn't win one in 2005 either.

You don't see the difference?

I dont see why you would include that in the answer to the question I asked.

I was asking when we start judging them. It its 1990, fine. Whatever year you want.

It's because I was talking about peoples lifetimes, which is a pretty basic concept.

You then wanted a date, and I gave it a few times, but that wasn't good enough either.

In conclusion: 2005.
