The Cubs? Did they even get a current major leaguer from that trade? They got some dude who might suck or might be good. Maybe they got 2 dudes like that, don't remember. The White Sox obviously made out the best here.

The White Sox gave up prospects to get what the Cubs didn't even want to keep.

And the Cubs got better prospects to boot.

So, how do the Sox make out the best, here?

Because prospects don't mean anything. The Sox are the only one of the three teams that landed a good, proven MLB player.

They'd rock the Cubs in a charity flag football game.

Did the Sox lose the Peavy trade?

Of course not. Did you see him pitch for the Giants? He sucks.

He was traded to the Red Sox and won a World Series. He was then traded to the Giants where he spun 78 innings to a 2.17 ERA in the regular season and won a World Series.

In exchange the Sox received a philandering clubhouse cancer outfield prospect with a bum shoulder.

Avi is much more proven than any guy the Sox just sent away, and Shark is a much better pitcher than Jake Peavy currently. You're really grasping at straws here.

Avi: 141 games played and 497 plate appearances
Semien: 85 games played and 326 plate appearances

Neither has accrued a season of major league games.

Shark vs. Peavy. What about 2 years ago? Was 2 years ago Peavy better than this year Shark? All I know is you stated Shark is a loser. Peavy has 2 rings in 2 years.

When did I state Shark was a loser?(I'll admit I probably did but go find that shit).

None of the rest of your post rebuts what I said about Avi being more proven than Semien.

Fine, but I don't know much about writing. You write it first and then I'll post it somewhere online without crediting you. Thats how this works, right?

Jerry and Rick have done a fine job of looking at what they have and the realistic view of Sale and Abreu. These guys are ready now, needed to compliment them now and if it doesnt work, OK, blow it up, but these guys are ready now and one might even be able to say they wont be this good in 2-3 years due to grind, major injury, physical fitess, bad year, etc. Shark is a great acquistion for them and I think they got him cheap, even if it is for a year.

It's great to have rational Cub fans like bigfan add clarify from a Cub perspective.

No shit, relax Sox Subdivision! You are not going to the win the division with a shark, a duke, a roach and a yankee from dun yonder.

Seems like just yesterday that the SS where posting about how Shark is not a winner. Does Hahn have some secret south side powder that turns Shark into a winner? Does the greatness that is the WhiteSox, automatically make him a 20 game winner? He didn't win in Oakland and I don't see him getting 15 Wins with this lineup. You act like you just signed J.Lester and M.Scherzer.

R E L A X - Remember I warned you. Don't come crying to me when Shark goes 4IP with 7ER and Robertson blows another save. You have been warned.

The past two years of going for it have gone really well. Like Trestman, everyone deserves a 3rd try.

Don't project JORR's thoughts onto all of us.

I don't think you can accurately assess an athlete when he comes up in such a dismal organization committed to losing as many games as it can. Now that Shark is with a professional baseball organization, there is a great chance he flourishes.

Last year they didn't really have the resources to really go for it. Now that they do, it looks like Hahn is firing on all cylinders while Theo sits on the sidelines for yet another free agency period. I truly hope the Cubs will attempt to win at some point during his tenure, but it looks like you guys get to use the "We're trying to lose!" excuse for yet another season.

Cubs have the a better or equal record the past two years. What resources didn't they have? They're owned by a billionaire.

They didn't have the payroll flexibility last year they had this year. I thought you realized that, my bad.

And yeah, Hahn needs to improve the team dramatically this year, and it looks like he did. If they suck, we will want him fired, not extended for five more years. Some fanbases have unlimited patience it seems, though.

No flexibility? They're were 20th in opening day payroll in 3rd largest market with $91M. Seems like they had a ton of flexibility.

Good job. But I didn't call him a loser, so that doesn't count.

So I guess at no point in time did I call Shark a loser.

2013: 119,073,277

I'll take your word for it. I'm sure the money went to worthy baseball related expenses unrelated to the major league roster.

They had Peavy, Dunn, Konerko money on the books Opening Day. That's a lot of cheddar for not much production in 2014
