Trade is official. White Sox get Samardzija and Michael Ynoa for Marcus Semien, Chris Bassitt, Josh Phegley, and Rangel Ravelo.

Maybe. The Shark trade is a way bigger deal than Maddon though, which I believe is when Hahn said that quote. I believe even you stated the reaction to Maddon was ridiculous and over the top.

Oh come on. Beane finally gave up on the Crown Jewel?? This just gets better and better.

Hahn has won two off seasons. I defended him extensively with what he did last year when the most people could counter with is that Davidson has been a disappointment. Now he wins another one. There is a lot of solid talent on the Sox.

It will be fun to watch both the Cubs and the Sox progress. The Sox seem at least a year ahead because they are adding high quality veterans.

But, the Sox could sign him or trade him at the deadline. If they give him a qualifying offer, then they get draft pick compensation. I don't think the Sox will be upset at losing those four marginal players.

I asked about Montas earlier but it may have gotten lost. Does signing Robertson signal the Sox continuing to project him as a starter?

I would venture a guess that Semien is the only player in that group who gets 600 MLB career AB and Bassitt has a short career in middle relief

I would like to add this also makes him a nice trade piece. Especially to a team that lost out on Robertson and Andrew Miller.

The best part of this trade is we no longer have to listen to America ramble on and on about how good Semien is and will be.
