I want to know why creepy Jerry did not allow Toronto to even talk to Williams. Williams built the World Series Winner. The team has won one Playoff game since. Williams basically ran the franchise into the ground since 2008. Reinsdorf gives him a bullshit job title and he is basically a glorified scout. Kicks him upstairs.
Williams was obviously burned out. Alex Rios and Oaf Dunn will do that to anybody. The few remaining fans burned out.
So Williams sits back for two years and gets his spirit back and wants to move on. This is MLB. GMs and Managers work for all kinds of teams. It is the nature of the business.
Creepy Jerry says NO.
WHY?
HAHN IS THE GM!!!!! Reinsdorf's nonsense about needing Kenny to build the 2015 team is ridiculous.
Reinsdorf's twisted sense of LOYALTY is just bizarre. "THE TIMING IS WRONG" What BULLSHIT.
Reinsdorf and his separation anxiety. Is this guy something out of "Criminal Minds" with women chained up in his basement?

agree very odd on the surface. couple theories:

1. kenny didn't handle this thing the "right" way. worked behind JR's back or something, or
2. JR has bigger things in store for KW, ie leading an ownership group.

Fuck Coop. These moves probably only move the Sox to an 85 win team.

One of Jerry's best friends in baseball is Paul Beeston, the guy who is getting run out of Toronto. Jerry just didn't want "his guy" to replace him. The loyalty was to Beeston, not Kenny.

Maybe Kenny's ownership group is getting impatient so he said "Ok, well if you're not going to sell, then Im going to pursue some NON White Sox avenues"

It was almost a given Dan Evans was going to take the GM role, as he was the Asst GM and had worked for the Sox for 20+ years. Many rumors exist at how kenny became the GM. I asked about it and got a 'thats not all true'.

Which tells me some of it was true and I know the part that was true is Kenny not going to the GM or the Asst GM, but directly to Reinsdorf about guys he liked. Was kenny right on any certain players evaluation? I dont know, but I do know he went around the people he wanted to make look bad and took the job they had planned on getting. combine that with a bit of dan Evans being a bit cocky about having the job before he got it, and Kenny gets the job.

And kenny made it known he would be interested in the job, but Kenny has a contract and when you have a contract with Jerry, he doesnt let you just walk away for nothing.

Maybe Kenny can tell the story a few more times about how HE signed Abreu and nobody else even knew about the guy. Hahn is just lucky kenny went to look at him.

And I also love that Kenny thanks Hahn for freeing up time for Kenny to go look at players. :D

I don't think it is anything more nefarious than JR being in charge of increasing minority opportunities for MLB and his desire to walk the walk. I also believe that JR believed in the program.

KW was qualified for consideration but I don't think he was qualified to be hired at the time of his hiring. If you remember the first couple years KW was a disaster. However, I think everyone understood he would be learning on the job. In fact, I believe they hired Roland Hemond to be his wet nurse.

It was a bit of social engineering on JR part. It takes extraordinary efforts to initiate social/organizational change. I would say that it worked after taking everything into account.

I put Ozzie's hire in the same category.
