Does a chorus get more anthemic than this?
Probably, but this song is fucking tits.

You kid with Haunted right? I bought that single the day it came out because I love Sinead and the Pouges. The juxtaposition of vocals is awesome but it is so out there you can't take it seriously.

That being said. Troy? Omfg what a great sad song. Sinead owns a lot. Jackie might be better, I am Stretched on Your Grave. Hell even Black Boys on Mopeds. Shit I know what I am listening to tonight.

Jawbox is awesome. Maybe my favorite tour was Jawbox and Jawbreaker. That was my wheelhouse. They were both "sell outs" at the time I guess. It surely wasn't the McGregors Jawbreaker show which is infamous and I donated my VHS tape to for the documentary which never came out.

I know Chino covered Savory but did he record with Jawbox? Memory makes me think he did.

Not kidding at all. The fact that you disagree is somewhat comforting...in the same way that any prediction by Scorehead is to those with the opposite viewpoint.

I love Shane. He fits a thing but when they are both singing together the Haunted chorus it is such a clash, which it should be and was intended to be but it seems to tongue in cheek to be sad. Trust me I like the song.

I'm with ya, Scorehead on the Todd Rundgren love.

It's hard for me to listen to "Dust In The Wind" or "Torch Song" without getting misty-eyed.

I'm addicted to this new song released by Kasim Sulton, Todd Rundgrens longtime bass player. Todd plays guitar on this tune & his guitar sound is vintage Todd. Todd can also be heard on the background vocals. Roger Powell also plays keyboards. Enjoy.

There have been countless songs written about 9/11. Some of them have expressed real emotion while others seem to have been recorded simply because it seemed like the thing to do. And some fall in between.

Take "The Rising", for example. Springsteen has spent the better part of his career railing against the kind of people that work for Cantor Fitzgerald so it would have been pretty disingenuous for him to lament the deaths of a bunch of Wall Street bankers, regardless of how awful and tragic those deaths may have been. So he writes from the perspective of a firefighter. Pretty much what you might expect from The Boss. And that last verse is extremely powerful:

I see you mary in the garden
In the garden of a thousand sighs
There's holy pictures of our children
Dancin' in a sky filled with light
May I feel your arms around me
May I feel your blood mix with mine
A dream of life comes to me
Like a catfish dancin' on the end of my line

But then he ruins it with that big chorus: "La la la la la la la". It's suddenly a naked paean to an arena crowd rather than a poignant and personal first person account of how a fireman felt in that stairwell.

"In The Lines", on the other hand, is one of the finest 9/11 songs that has been written/sung. You'll be weeping before Mac McCaughan gets through the first line. Talk about raw emotion. I have no idea where he was on 9/11. But when I hear this song I feel like he was in New York, trying to call his friends and watching the smoke from the roof of his building. Maybe he really was. That's as opposed to the Springsteen song that is necessarily written from a distance. Bruce's baggage is too great. We all know he's a rock star with a mansion who was probably in LA on September 11, 2001. And even if McCaughan was in Chapel Hill or somewhere else on that day, the song is no less real or less true. Just like the fact that John Fogerty had never laid eyes upon the Mississippi when he penned "Proud Mary" fails to make it anything less than genuine.
