Back to the rape issue on this show. Didn't you think that as he was interviewing her, he was trying to read her. And the moment he knew she was a liar was when she said "I'm gonna win this one". That's not something a rape victim should say. More like something a pissed off girl would say when her boyfriend dumps her. It shouldn't be about winning and losing. That's why he didn't call her back and why he didn't do the story. That was the message, I think.

He was definitely trying to read her but I don't think she was lying about what happened. I think his main
goal was not to start a huge social shit storm on network tv and have everyone involved in the story get their
names dragged through the mud. He didn't want to do the story because it wasn't really "journalism" by his
strict sense of the word. Plus he wanted to push back on the new owner of ACN. That's how I saw it anyway.

You know, speaking of Emily Gould from the Gawker interview from hell, isn't she kind of a proto-Lena Dunham? Child of privilege who moves to Brooklyn to Be A Writer, goes down in flames due to creative truth-telling, has bad tattoos. Maybe Lena Dunham is the Gawker Media Sucks Thread as high-concept performance art.

Way more attractive than Lena Dunham, but no less irritating.
 :x

Kind of a boring finale. Wrapped things up well enough but nothing really happened. I thought it
was a decent series overall but never reached its potential in my eyes.

WTF was that?

Seems to be the new norm wrapping up these cable series. Started with Deadwood, then Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire and now Newsroom. Leaves devoted fans shaking their heads and wondering why it had to end "like this"?

the show killed itself halfway through the first season when it forgot about its wholesome values and focused on the high school relationships of all the cast members.

Yeah, but that was inevitable. Sorkin can't write anything without Big Strong Man rescuing some flighty aspirational career woman from herself.

 We need Aaron Sorkin's voice more than ever in these trying times. I'm not sure what story I'd be looking forward to the most. I'm sure there will be a very nuanced Khashoggi storyline and the importance of the news, but personally I can't wait to hear if Sorkin thinks #MeToo has possibly gone too far.
