A team would have to be really dumb to trade for Jay Cutler.

Jimmy Clausen has appeared in 16 games in his NFL career, his teams are 1-15 in those games (1-9 as the starter).

Emery feeling better.

Trestman thinking he has a lottery pick.

They might have a quarterback now, so maybe they will not trade for Jay. But you know if Al were alive he'd be on the phone.

Maybe?

Hypothetical Al Davis certainly would not trade for Jay Cutler with Derek Carr on the roster.

His 40-yard dash time is not fast enough.

Wow. It was Trestman's call and it was for "poor play". Wasn't Emery and it wasn't to keep him healthy for next year or a trade.

So, yeah, this was a BIG DEAL.

This is what is so stupid about it. "Poor play" does not get much worse than what we saw out of the Bears the first half of the Saints game. Why not put Claussen in then? Unless he wasn't ready, which is an even further indication of the coaching staff.

I don't want anyone. I would just want the draft pick. I would use my #1 on a QB and bring in a veteran to help him develop.

This one is pretty simple to figure out. Trestman wouldn't lie to throw Cutler under the bus if he thought he was coming back as coach. The lie to protect the franchise would be to say we just want to keep Cutler healthy.

So Emery got mad at him over the OC leaking info. Trestman likes his OC. Didn't fire him. That made Emery mad. Emery made the OC apologize. That made Trestman mad cuz he publically humiliated his friend. So Trestman benching the QB making Emery look bad for giving him the big contract.

Just a couple of "Fuck Yous" before these two part in a couple of weeks. That's all

But man, how things have changed. I would say that just 6 weeks ago Trestman and Emery were still really tight. Now they hate one an other. That's the NFL, man.

Glanville said it best. The N-F-L stands for "Not for long".

It came from above Emery. Someone told Emery you better sit Jay so he doesn't get hurt and we can't get rid of him. Emery then goes to Trestman and says "Not my call but "blank" wants Cutler to sit next week". Gives Trestman a chance to save face and maybe salvage whatever chance he has of getting a QB Coach job.

No way Trestman, after waiting this long, is going to burn bridges on the way out the door.

Now......if Cutler starts next week, I'll agree with you.

No. I really don't think Teddy or George made this call. Especially Teddy. He hired Phil who signed Cutler. If Emery comes back, which I think he will, that will prove that. Cuz they wouldn't step over him and then bring him back.

I just don't think Teddy and George have that in them to do something like that. Nothing in their history suggests that.

I'm actually in the It was all Trestman Camp. I don't think Emery would allow for the perception that he was admitting the contract was a mistake. I also think Emery believes that if he survives this, he's not going to want to further de-value his trade assets

There are only 2 first round QBs - Mariotta and Winston - and the Bears won't be in position to get either. Maybe Winston if his rep drops him. I might even take a flyer on him because he's got an excellent on-field reputation. But he won't drop.

Then, it's going to be Hundley next around round 3 or 4. No thanks.

Here's how it is.

Yesterday, I said it had to be all the way up from Ted/George.

Today, Bernstein said it was a move solely attributable to Trestman.

Since you've disavowed Emery, you therefore have to agree with either Dan or myself.

I'm sorry for your loss.

After Trestman's tone today I am certain it was him. It is his fuck you. I will have Clausen play my scheme like he is told and go down how I want.

This was not Trestmans call. He was told to bench Cutler & he's being a good submissive soldier hoping to save his job. Does anyone really believe that he just changed his mind? No way. No one actually believes that Claussen gives the Bears a better chance of winning. Trestman isn't doing this to be defiant. He doesn't have a defiant bone in his body.
