I dont understand what Sony is actually fearing by pulling this movie. North Korea wouldn't even be able to blow up a pack of firecrackers, and we're worried they're going to strike American theatres that are showing this movie? Give me a fucking break.

Shame on Sony, and shame on all the corporate execs from theaters that decided to pull the plug on this.

Exactly.

If the CIA has determined that there is a credible threat to national security due to the release of this movie, I could understand limiting showings. However, I think it is incredibly important to screen this movie.

It is completely forseeable that the next movie unfavorable to Islam gets a threat. Hell, this will embolden the fringe edge or Christianity the next time there is a movie with which it does not agree.

This move sends a message to artists at the lowest levels to not even think about creating a certain type of story as it will never see the light of day.

PLEASE HOLLYWOOD, GROW SOME BALLS! This is one of those moments where you must stand up.

To have a major release of this major with Army forces present would just hype this movie to legendary status. Just the fact the Koreans dont understand this is a comedy, is what makes it even funnier. Have 1 showing in LA and then 2 nights later release it in a few places and then next week in more.

Nevermind, Paramount has nixed this plan. What a nation of pussies.

Good for them, but it should be more than one screening.

After Sony canceled the release of the North Korea assassination comedy The Interview, a Texas theater said it would swap the film with Paramount's 2004 film Team America: World Police for one free screening.

"We're just trying to make the best of an unfortunate situation," James Wallace, creative manager and programmer at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema's Dallas/Fort Worth location, tells The Hollywood Reporter.

American flags and other patriotic items will be given out by theater employees, Wallace says.

The plot of Team America, co-written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, revolves around Kim Jong Il, the father of current North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. The posters promoting the R-rated movie in 2004 included the tagline, "Putting the 'F' Back in Freedom."

In The Interview, Seth Rogen and James Franco's characters are tasked with assassinating Kim Jong Un.

The Alamo Drafthouse movie theater in Dallas, Texas, will be showing Team America: World Police in place of The Interview on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. Wallace says that the Dallas/Fort Worth location is the only location as of now that is planning to screen the replacement film.

In a note on its website, the theater added: "THAT is how true American heroes will be celebrating this year, but if you want to let the terrorists win...well, that's your prerogative."

Sony canceled the release of The Interview earlier on Wednesday after the country's five largest theater chains all decided against showing the film, saying in a statement: "We respect and understand our partners’ decision and, of course, completely share their paramount interest in the safety of employees and theater-goers."

So, it was North Korea. This is pretty much a joke, and that crazy bastard over there is having the last laugh at our expense.

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration on Friday formally accused the North Korean government of being responsible for the devastating hacking attack against Sony Pictures Entertainment, providing the most detailed accounting to date of a hugely expensive break-in that could lead to a U.S. response.

The FBI said in a statement it has enough evidence to conclude that North Korea was behind the punishing breach, which resulted in the disclosure of tens of thousands of leaked emails and other materials.

"North Korea's actions were intended to inflict significant harm on a U.S. business and suppress the right of American citizens to express themselves. Such acts of intimidation fall outside the bounds of acceptable state behavior," the statement said.

The FBI's case cited, among other factors, technical similarities between the Sony break-in and past "malicious cyber activity" linked directly to North Korea.

Obama administration officials had previously declined to openly blame North Korea but said they were weighing various options for a response. The statement Friday did not reveal what options were being considered. President Barack Obama is expected to face questions about the Sony hack at a year-end news conference with reporters later Friday.

The break-in escalated to terrorist threats that promoted Sony to cancel the Christmas release of the movie "The Interview." The comedy is about a plot to assassinate North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un.

we cant do anything about it. we have no economic or diplomatic relations. they are completely isolated as it is. the only thing we could do is bomb them, but we dont want korean war 2.0

now, we COULD, maybe, possibly, eye for an eye and hack their networks into oblivion... problem is they dont have anything worth hacking so really there is nothing we can do.

We don't even have to hack them into bolivian. Hack into their state media and play Duke of Hazzard or Howard Stern shows on the radio. Something stupid to really fuck with them.

We're going to release a lot of NK state secrets, and make sure the NK can get them. That will be the ultimate revenge.

If you didn't see something like this coming, you're just dumb, period.

http://www.tmz.com/2014/12/19/the-interview-sony-pictures-hackers-new-demands/

The Sony hackers are not satisfied -- they've unleashed a new threat ... trying to ensure "The Interview" NEVER gets released in any format.

Several top level execs at Sony Pictures got the new message which reportedly said, "We want everything related to the movie, including its trailers, as well as its full version down from any website hosting them immediately."

They also demanded "The Interview" never come out on DVD, pay-per-view, or V.O.D.

CNN first reported the latest message ... which also reminds the Sony execs the hackers still have all of their "private and sensitive data."

The hackers told execs they'd made a "very wise" decision to cancel the release, and shouldn't make any new trouble for themselves.

http://www.wsbtv.com/news/entertainment/hustler-video-announces-porn-parody-interview/njXbT/

"If Kim Jong Un and his henchmen were upset before, wait till they see the movie we're going to make," Hustler founder and chairman Larry Flynt said as he announced plans to make a pornographic parody of The Interview.

The Interview has grabbed headlines because of threats from hackers believed to be backed by North Korea and the resulting cancellation of the movie’s nationwide premiere on Christmas Day.

The movie’s working title is This Ain’t the Interview XXX. (Source: HollywoodReporter.com)

Flynt won a 1988 decision by the Supreme Court against Jerry Falwell in a case that addressed freedom of expression laws in the United States.

"I've spent a lifetime fighting for the First Amendment, and no foreign dictator is going to take away my right to free speech," Flynt said as he announced the porn project, which is set to go into production in early 2015.

Its available for rent/buy on youtube, XBOX and several websites.

Already clocking in at a predictable 29% amongst top critics on Rotten Tomato. Anyone who pays money for this is an idiot and should be sent to North Korea for re-education.

Love how Sony was complaining that none of the streaming services were stepping up to show it, even though they have their own streaming service in Crackle...and now they put it on demand on a rival console but not on their own. The guys at the movie division must not get along with the people at PlayStation.

For conspiracy theorists, it would be the all-time best PR campaign. That would take some balls...tell the world you were hacked, claim the hackers stole a few movies, show some embarrassing e-mails (maybe of execs you want to launch anyway), and then the movie becomes a hit. Only problem is if the US ended up bringing down N. Korea's internet as a response...
