Hey, don't look past the white-hot Winnipeg Jets. The Ladd-Little-Wheeler line has been on fire, and they're keeping pucks out of the net with what at this point has to be divine intervention.

Great win. Nice confidence-builder (trade value builder?) for Raanta. The goal differential for this team is getting absurdly good. They've basically had two bad losses all year (Vancouver and Detroit).

Whoops, my neighbor made the same mistake last night and I totally forgot about the Jets after reminding him...

My theory on the cause of death:

Hawks got in late last night, then equipment staff had to head straight to UC to unpack, do laundry and get everything ready for tonight's game. Probably didn't get out of there till after 5 am. After working probably close to 20 hours straight he headed home, fell asleep at the wheel and crashed his car.

If that's how it happened his family is in line for a work comp award, not that that matters at this point, but down the road it will help out for sure.

Really? All I heard was that it was untimely. Didn't know there were any details. Must've been something out of nowhere like a heart attack or aneurysim. Either way, pretty awful.

It woulda been more appropriate for a road game, but I thought it was kinda cute.

It's in my top ten Rush songs, but I think "Vital Signs" and "Subdivisions" are my top two.

I wish Toronto and Detroit were back in our division. The league says they want to rekindle the glory days of the Norris Division with this new alignment and playoff bracket, but it's not the same if you do it with the wrong teams. I don't care if we play the Perds four times or forty times; no one gives a shit.

At the very least the Wild should do the right thing and change their name to the North Stars. Its never too late to correct a mistake. Just as teh Charlotte Bobcats and the Winnipeg Jets.

When the Dallas Stars were messing around with designing new logos, they were dead-set on using navy and red until Mike Modano talked them out of it. Giving up green would have been a perfect time to give up the Stars name altogether and cede it back to the Minnesota team. I tiptoe around saying "Wild" the way Deadspin tiptoes around "Redskins" because it offends me that much that a major pro team would call itself the "Wild."

You must really hate the Jazz.

And despise the Magic.

The Jazz doesn't bother me for some reason. Magic is pretty awful. Wild is the worst. They know it, too, overcompensating as they do with Ye Olde Time Off-White Hockey Sweaters.

Ooh, Thunder is really bad, too, especially because it replaced Supersonics, which was a nice alliterative name. Lakers is fine.

Avalanche is fine enough because everyone just calls them the Avs anyway. Also, they were originally supposed to be called the Rocky Mountain Extreme. When it comes to dodging the bullet that is the "Rocky Mountain Extreme," you takes what you can gets.

Ok fine. Let's end this on something everybody agrees on. Worst nickname in all of pro sports.

Hardly. "What's a Met?" always seemed willfully obtuse. It's no more confusing than referring to the Met Opera or the art museum which is also called the Met.

Agree!

The Mets are as imposing and intimidating as an opera house and art museum!

What does that matter? Rapists are intimidating, but I don't want to root for them.

The hell's wrong with "Subdivisions"?

Also, pretty much everything off Moving Pictures and Permanent Waves is gold. I don't go for early proggy Rush.

While I wouldn't put it in my Top Two, it is still great, and one of Neil's more underrated drumming exploits IMO.

I jumped in with Hemispheres, and remember when even WLS 890 played "The Spirit Of Radio"

Still my fave band. Clockwork Angels was their best album since MP.

Shattering the illusion of integrity indeed.

I know it's not fair, but I kinda have to keep "The Spirit of Radio," "Red Barchetta," and "Tom Sawyer" off the tippity-top of the list because, well, I listened to the Loop all through high school, and sometimes enough is enough.

Wow man go back and listen to the first 2-4 222 is kinda a chore but farewell to Kings and Cares of Steel is both Gold.
I was thinking other day I know my favorite bands from all countries except for America lol. I can get into this debate all day . I do agree the last release is the best in years. There is a rumor they are coming around for a tour but no dates yet,I am pissed I missed the Moving Pictures one they did 3 years ago.

Bastille Day and Lakeside Park excepted, CoS is a big, flaming turd that almost made them call it a day.

It must be. No fucking way would I ever consider not being around my son and he had 4 kids. For something to override that love has to be pretty fucking insidious .
