(Stink), MJH are talking about this on the show.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG7O7GbSR6s

It'll probably be taking off before long.

In case you missed it, Kimmel is banned from the MNF booth for his Joe Theismann comments.

I'm glad Mac said this about ESPN and that guy specifically. I'm so damn sick of the Bristol brand of bullshit they are always spewing out of our mouths. I love ESPN Radio 1000 in Chicago, but there's so much going on in Bristol that has worn on me. I wish to God there was another sports network that could give them a run for their money. Mike and Mike need to stop auditioning for Good Morning America, MNF sucks so much that most people think they are on of the worst TV booths in the country, and I'm so sick of the overall arrogance of the Bristol employees with the exception of Mike Tirico who I think comes off as a dencent guy regardless of who he is in person. At least Dan Patrick is gone. I think this will start a new thread shortly on everything I used to like about ESPN.

absolutely. ESPN has become more sterile than a Mysophobic's toilet seat. But I don't think it's just ESPN...

I heard it live. I thought it was hilarious. Like Mac said, what does ESPN want?

They finally get a guy up in the MNF booth that entertains people and he's the guy that they ban. They are so stupid. Have a thick skin. What's the big deal. People like that stuff. When the guys in the booth are put on the spot like that it makes for great TV.

To be honest with you, I quit flipping to the baseball game when Jimmy was on for those 3 segments. Isn't that what ESPN wants with the guest in the booth thing? That's how dumb they are.

It sucks that in almost every respect ESPN is worse than they were 5 or 10 years ago. I don't want to sound like on of those "everything was better in the old days" kind of guys, but it's accurate here. From broadcasters to sports anchors to programming it's just not the same. I don't know how they keep ratings up as almost none of my sports crazy friends even bother to watch Sportscenter anymore. Back in college in the 90's everybody on the dorm floor watched it. Instead of all those damn poker shows they need to go back to showing Australian Rules Football and the guys by the goal posts wearing lab coats.

The weird thing is they are banning a guy that works for the same company - ABC. That's why he's there in the first place. To promote. He gained some fans with that little performance.

Now they are bad mouthing a company product. Does that make sense?

There is no such thing as bad publicity. An ABC employee being banned from another ABC show and being all over the sports news world is nothing but positive for ESPN/ABC.

Just wait until next year when they do an about face and Kimmel ends up back in the booth and it is a storyline again.

That's probably true Boilermaker. It does give him some publicity because of this. Good point.

But I guarentee you that wasn't the intent of this producer who was pissed and spoke to the New York Times.

They didn't have to announce he couldn't come back to the booth. Just don't have him back. He was on last year but it's not like we expect him to be on evey year. If he wasn't on next year people would have figured he just wasn't in the town of the MNF game.

But yeah, Jimmy will milk this on his show and it will appear in papers across America tommorrow. So it works out well for Jimmy and ABC in the end.

Kimmel may have been better than most guests, but they aren't needed. Why do we need guests who may/may not have anything to do with football ?

You said it. ESPN TV gives me a headache for the most part. I enjoyed it when I was a kid. The Sports Reporters was the only opinion show they had on Sunday mornings. I liked most of those writers on that show.

This angry MNF producer is the latest example. He's been ESPN brain washed. They must have a lab in Bristol where they do this. It's like a cult. Anybody who shows the great ESPN in a bad light is destroyed by the Empire. Jimmy Kimmell must be afraid. LOL.

You should have listened to the show yesterday. They brought it up over and over again for the first 3 hours of the show and kept trying to get the MNF producer on the show. Mac was railing on him and Bristol alot.

Much ado about bullshit. Seriously, Disney/CapCities/ESPN/ABC has been cross promoting their interests to the point that the game often takes a back seat. Way in the back. If they wonder why ratings are stagnant (if not declining) its because while chasing after those “fringe” viewers by showing them everything but the product they’re tuning in to watch, they’re chasing away viewers such as myself who merely want to watch one more game of NFL football. I don’t need Mike Tirico’s Bob Costas act in giving opinions on current events, and I don’t care for Tony “a total pussy” Kornheiser’s musings as he displays his ignorance of sports competition.

Kimmel said what many people have already said if they’ve watched more than one game of MNF over the last two seasons. Could I stand Joe Theeseman? Fuck and no. As far as I’m concerned they can jettison Kornheiser, tell Tirico to stick to football and talk a hell of a lot less, and let Ron Jaworski do his thing, because I want to watch (and hear about) football.

Theeseman's quote in the NY Times about preferring to watch CSI: Miami tells you he could give less than a fuck about Kornheiser, Kimmel, or MNF.

Now, if only someone would forget the words to “Take me out to the ballgame” and utter an emphatic expletive, and we could get rid of the schmaltzy 7th Inning stretch at a ballpark somewhere on Addison St.

I think its about time for them to update the friendship of Russell Crowe and Lloyd Carr. That was a riveting piece both weeks they showed the same story.

If the game doesn't involve the Bears, I usually just watch moments of it, just to catch the score. I think that's how it is with most fans.

They need to change the way they present the games by having analysts who know the game (Jaws fits that description), but not have all the hokey crap, like the cross promotions and music videos.

Their best bet at decent ratings is to attract the hardcore football fan, the type that will watch any game on Monday, even if they watched football all weekend from early Saturday morning until Sunday night. All they have watching now are the people who put a wager down on the game, and are willing to suffer through the crap just to see their money go down the toilet.

Cut it to a 2 man booth (Turico and Jaws), keep TK on PTI where he belongs, and keep Jimmy Kimmel on when I'm watching Conan or Craig Ferguson.

I am out!
