So Winnipeg is weird. They don't allow a lot of goals but they don't score a lot either. Their power play sucks and the Hawks have a fantastic kill. Did I mention their top scorer is Andrew Ladd?
So it seems like a nice 2-1 game for the Hawks tonight.

Jets are wrecked at the blue line. They're missing Bogosian, Enstrom, Stuart, and Trouba. They had to move Byfuglien back to defense, after having moved him back to forward, where they moved him from defense, where they moved him from forward. They're even out of guys to call up from St. John's.

I think the Jets are the only Western team in a playoff position who won't hold. I think the Jets/Thrashers have done this for years: their schedule bunches up, they get out ahead of some teams, they win a few, they lose others, and then eventually all they can do is look on helplessly as a team or two wins all their games in hand and passes them. It'll be Minnesota in this case. Too bad, as I really want the people of Winnipeg to get a playoff series.

naw, you can't blame tonight on that. Looking at the evidence in hindsight, tonight's performance should've been easily predicted. Their good friend/equipment guy dies of an OD Sunday morning, leaves behind 4 kids. They find out and have to play a few hours later, adrenaline takes over and they have one of their best games of the year. Over the next couple days the reality of your friend dying sets in and come Tuesday you have no desire or energy to play at the level you need to play at to be competitive in the NHL.

The Christmas break couldn't have come at a more needed time for this team.
