i've been a droid razr maxx guy since i got the first gen droid razr maxx circa june 2012, and im telling you biggie if not for a little 1 cent piece of metal on the microUSB/charging port going bad i'd still be using that phone today. now cellphonies (the cellphone equivalent of foodies) will tell you the original droid razr/maxx HD screens were dark and shit, but i never noticed anything wrong/bad/etc with my original droid razr maxx. technically i started out on the droid razr, whose 1700mAh battery was a nightmare for the ~3 months i had it. i was always carrying a charging cord with me whenever i went out for the day/night/etc. well the maxx/maxx-HD/droid-maxx has a 3300mAh battery that will give me 24-48rs easily with 3-4+ hours of screen-on time (sometimes i've had ~20hr runs with like 5hr 45mins of screentime and i'm left with like 16% battery) and yeah, shit, with 24GB internal storage and 16GB microSD i've got 40gb of space total on this beeeeyotch, and that's excellent. i can just throw whatever on it.... i can bootleg entire concerts in 1080p like *fingersnap* and yeah, basically i never worry about battery charge, data usage, or storage space... and that's perfect for a cellphone because you want ease of use over sweating the details, especially while you're on the go.
of course there's the generation 3 "droid maxx" (they dropped the razr from the old razr maxx thing to just call it the maxx) it's newer and better and more memory better screen and wireless charging and etc, but they got rid of the microSD port so you've only got the 32gb of storage space and that's it. no doubt they want you to get one of those MORE EVERYTHING!!!! plans where i'd pay the same amount of $$$ per month to get half of the data i'm getting right now so of course when i'm tucked in with a nice 1-2GB/month data plan and a phone with as little storage space as possible i'll end up putting everything on the cloud and using a bunch of data up only to store stuff that i'd easily be able to store on my phone if they still allowed me to drop in a 32 or 64gb microSD card (which have to exist nowadays if i got a 16gb card in 2012, right?) ahh well c'est la vie the cloud is the future cuz i'm sure our corporate benefactors already decided that a return to the days of tandy dummy terminals and everyone storing stuff on big servers is the way to go, especially when digital gasoline is gonna get up to the equialent of $4.25/gallon territory.
all that said, yeah dude, if you want a nice slick well made non-plastic phone that has a lot of space battery and great 300-400k/sec+ 4GLTE coverage from verizon that would even work if you were encased in concrete and buried 15 feet below the intersection of state and lake, welp, the droid razr maxx (now the droid maxx) is the way to go IMO. simply put it gets the job done with little bullshit or fanfare.... and the annoyances i've had to deal with are relatively minor (mainly the fact that my charging/USB cord just doesnt wanna let the phone connect directly to my computer via USB because........????? idk. so i have to just transfer files directly from phone to comptuer or vice versa through my own home wifi network, but yeah other than that this phone is awesome and i bet barring some stupid little hardware failure it'll end up lasting me 3-5 years. and thats what i want in a phone, cuz man if you let the phone companies steer you around every 18 months (right before your 24 month contract ends) you'll be eligible for an "upgrade" to some new phone for $50-200 so you can then subsidize the other $300-500 worth of the phone's MSRP via the 2 year contract and rah rah rah blah blah blah. i'm pretty damn sure i just got my phone out of the contract and it's great to know that if i ever decide to go *fingersnap* i'm out i can. tho idk why i would cuz with verizon you get what you pay for, which is pretty much the best cellphone company in the USA.
so yeah good luck and god bless you for not getting an iphone. be sure to let us know what you get!
