Yeah I can see Emery sitting in a bar years from now "yeah I used to be a GM of a major sports team, its a tough racket".

SH I would hope that they learned a lesson, but I don't think we can say it was a "great" year for their future.

Nope. I have said all along that I think this time will be different and that the Bears will finally hire an experienced football guy.

How great would it be to see Harbaugh walk in at the 4:00 presser?

Why are Mel and Joe still employed?

It wouldn't be great at all. The Bears need to hire a top NFL guy to run this team 1st, let that guy decide who he wants to bring in as HC - it's business as usual if they do it any other way. And that's bad business.

But that's the problem. The Bears dont have the Alec Baldwin guy and Mitch and Murray (The McCaskeys) are clueless

they should already know who they want to hire as head football man... you dont fire emery unless you have his replacement in hand... they dont have time to dick around with this gm hire... because the decent head coaching candidates will be hired by the end of this week.

Ok, let's say this is true and they know who the GM is already -going after Harbaugh better be what said GM wants, not the other way around.

Other way around means we got some asshat yes man as GM, fuck that shit.

Cant wait for the 4:00 presser. Teddy will announce that he is stepping out of football operations. A new business model at Halas hall. Finally.

typically you dont fire the assistants until the new guy is in place... they may have specifically fired kromer if only because of his media leak... the rest will be canned when a new coach is on board

Bears need a coach with a stache. Ditka, Jackson, Guillen, Quenneville - all sport a stache. Meatball out.

A coach with a 'stache and a GM with CTE would render the Bears invincible.

Fuck that. George should have fired Mel & Joe too. Get on with it.

I hope Rex isn't on a flight to Chicago.

listening to bits and pieces of interviews I'm surprised at some strong player comments in favor of Trestman. Paea calls him best coach he's ever had. Long said he was a great guy. the kicker said he was a great guy, surprisingly.

dont know how contracts for coaches work.. but if some new hire from another team actually wanted mel or joe d. on their coaching staff would that new coach have to inherit their contracts too since both are still bears employees ? that way the bears dont have to pay them going away money?

Shanahan is an intriguing candidate. He's over 60 though and doesn't have a mustache.

I agree. It's no coincidence that Green Bay's drafts have been mediocre since Schneider left for his current position with the Seahawks.
mediocre? Do you know how that team is constructed and he left a while ago. Normally I agree with you but this a bad thought.

Shanahan is the worst hire possible outside of bringing back Trestman.

You simply cannot hire Shanahan in Chicago.

Oak Park Shanny is not at the top of my list, but he would be a huge upgrade over Dr. Death.

Any hire shouldn't be made with Cutler in mind. It should be with Winston in mind.

Oddity of the day: #Bears OC Aaron Kromer had his final meeting with offensive players at his house, not the office

(a little late to be keeping things in-house, amirite?)

The Pack has a lot of young players on the roster, but they're not necessarily good players. The most important players on this team were drafter prior to 2010.
