How many years did it take Indy to rebuild post Peyton Manning. No time at all cuz they got the next stud QB.

Agreed, the current Indy GM ass is saved by Luck. Otherwise his roster sucks.

their gm also gave a 1st for the right to let trent richardson get 2.5 ypc for his team in a 50-50 timeshare... the common thread with nearly every great team is find a QB... then go from there

As long as Bernstein didn't yell at him and cut off his microphone, I'd consider this an improvement.

It will. Bears are pretty inept.

No GM gets 10 years to complete a rebuild.

Except Theo Epstein.

I've heard Hub criticize the way Dan treats the callers when he does a night show.

I think Dan knows about that and loves to show his authority to Hub and be extra dicky today. Hub doesn't say anything to him. I think if he did Dan would say "I do it my way. Do it your way on your shows."

There is talent on defense, not enough, but it's there.

They do have two DT's (Ferguson, and Sutton), two LB's (Bostic, and Jones), and one CB (Fuller) who have a chance to be part of an improved defense. If they resign Paea to go with Ratliff, they have an excellent group in the middle of their line. Willie Young had an excellent season, but could miss some of next season along with his athleticism coming off the ACL injury.

Add 1-2 players in the draft who can compete for starting jobs, along with competent coaching (I think everyone has seen enough of these passive schemes that were being used by Tucker) and you can see an improved defense. They could add a MLB and Safety in the 1st/2nd rounds of the draft and both could be major upgrades to what was in place.

There are concerns for sure. Safety play, the DE's coming off injury (and age with Allen), and the younger players showing improvement. Fuller regressed in the 2nd half of the season, Bostic overruns plays, and Vereen struggled. The DT's generally had positive reviews, but neither made many plays, but there is some talent here that can improve with experience, a competent coach, and more additions.

Even when Dan started dropping his information on us, he also said on many occasions that he didn't know who was in charge.

I had this up to post JORR or Dolphin will be along shortly to disagree, but I thought "nah, no reason to bring that up here"

I hate when the only candidates mentioned are local ones. Are there no viable candidates outside Chicago or it just easier to just give names that you're familiar with?

The games have been over for about 24 hours and the 2015 Edition of Cutler Hope is back. If the new regime keeps Cutler they've already checked themsthemselves out of town. He can ruin all of them.

No reason to think Cutler won't be back especially if Shanahan is being targeted, but hopefully whoever they hire is allowed to make that decision.

He'll kill Shanahan too. The fact that Hub and Dan agreed that "there's nothing wrong" with Cutler coming back in 2015 guarantees they have no clue about the reality of the team.

As I said at the beginning of this season, the average NFL roster flips 1/3 every year, so year 3 is a reasonable time frame for any regime

And I'll say this again.

Packers defense has sucked for 2 years. Indy defense has sucked for 2 years. They have bad rosters. But they have a great QB so they'll always get 10-12 wins and have a shot at a Super Bowl.

Hub keeps pushing Ryan Grigson for the Bears job.

This is the guy who gave up a first-round pick for Trent Richardson.

How has he drafted since becoming Indy's GM? I'm too lazy to look this up.

It's hard to prove you're not a dumb caller when you invoke the name "Ditka" for any position of employment save, perhaps, assistant janitor ... suggesting we hire Nick Saban as GM is awfully damned close though.

Because he's from Northwest Indiana and has greatly benefitted from Andrew Luck. Otherwise, he's built a largely hollow playoff team. I believe if the Colts weren't in the AFC South they'd struggle to make the playoffs.

Attention...."critical" Bears press conference upcoming.

I texted in my question that if George is acting on the wishes of Virginia, how does that translate into George taking control of the team?

Awaiting an answer.

You've dropped a lot of GM's off the list if you discount them because of elite quarterback play.

The Bears have hired Ernie Accorsi as a consultant and are seeking the advice of the NFL's Career Development Committee to fill the GM position.

In other words, they have no idea what they're doing.

Yeah, at least they understand they don't know anything about hiring football people.
