HAVE FAITH OH YE CHILDREN OF TIME! this is the NFL and the NFL is designed with party in mind, so even if you got a really ambitious potato to GM the team you'll have a decent chance to have a .500+ team within the next 2-3 years by default and then you'll make the playoffs where even joe flacco can go out and win you one!

i still have my faith in jay; if you don't count on him to be any sort of leader and he's just a guy on a team surrounded by weapons and competent play calling you'll be fine, provided your defense isn't coached by mel tucker and your offense isn't coached by marc trestman. the man with the golden tresticles got found out by year #2 to the point where the much-ballyhooed #2 scoring offense of 2013 managed to have 10 of their last 11 games feature 0 points in the first quarter. that tells me that coaches around the league figured out what trestman wanted to do, so they'd take it away from him and force him to adapt (which clearly took more than a quarter or even 2 sometimes. who can forget the 49ers game?) but then of course after you get a spurt of 14-28 points during YAHATIME!!!!!! they adapt to your adapting and then the trest-man is figured out and then the team is toast-man.

so yeah jay is prolly a pudwhack, a dumbass. an egotistical blowhard who needs a coach to come in to his cabin and not look deep into his eyes during a stormy night in raleigh NC to find out whether or not they could win football games together, but to smack him upside the head and say "hey dumbass what are you doing in a cabin on a stormy night in raleigh NC letting strange self-avowed quarterback gurus come in all willy nilly? stop that gay ass shit and go study the fucking playbook!"

you know, a coach who has some of that "daddy" mentality that lovie had, just with a clue about both offense and defense. is that too much to ask? hopefully we can bring in someone with a working mind who can command respect because while i hate to speak about the platitudes of respect and honor and all that, it's clear to me that a big problem with the trestman era was that nobody had any reason to respect the guy. everything was fine when the chains were moving and the points were getting scored in season #1, but coming back with mel tucker and the same shitty defense that you had last year was just unacceptable, which ended up not mattering because trestman ended up shitting the bed in year #2 worse than tucker did for the defense in year #1.

was it true that zach said that tucker was crying on the sidelines at the final whistle of sunday's game? if so it'd make sense because the guy prolly realized he just finshed up his last game as a defensive coordinator in the NFL, unless another team is out there is looking for a specialist who can take a top-10 defense and turn it into a bottom-4 defense within the course of one season.

and when things got bad trestman got into a showoff contest about badness akin to the music video or michael jackson's bad. i never quite figured out why bernstein called him dr. death, but then again i never knew why terry called dubya "president haywood" so c'est la fucking vie.

I can tell you what he won't choose, someone from outside of football, like Jim Phillips or some fucking Canadian with a pedigree as an ice soccer executive

Jay Blunk is from Chicago and had a baseball background, having worked for the Cubs about as long as McDonough did.

Jay Blunk is not a Pro sports CEO and should never be one.

Much like Radio, many in pro sports are lifers and the best thing one can say about them is how long they have been somewhere because they did anything they could to get in the door. It's like guys who work as interns at the Score after college for an extended period of time with no pay, then they get a job as an asst roducer, because they needed someone, then they become the producer because someone quit...and they move up the ladder based on absentees and others being familar with them. Has nothing to do with talent.

Oh, I don't doubt that, and I certainly don't think Jay Blunk should jump from being second in command with the Blackhawks to first in command with the Bears. I just wasn't going to stand idly by and let Dolphin call him a Canadian.

Whoever it is, it had better be someone with experience in the position. I am tired of these first year coaches and GM's.
I went through it with the Hawks and I don't want to go through it with the Bears!

Quenneville is going to end his career with more wins than anyone but Bowman and Arbour, yet some people still bitch about him being a tired retread.

Baltimore's Eric DeCosta drawing big NFL interest. Jets asking again, after a hard run in '13. Bears unlikely as long as Phillips is there.

I wouldn't feel bad about DeCosta. The Jets aren't getting him either. No one is.

Per the deal he has, you would think so, but this is a case of the Ravens being smart enough to give him the money and title, making the only position for him to move up to as a Czar guy.

And Not one of the guys Ernie is bringing to the table has been a GM....

Florio made a good point. Accorsi has been out of the NFL for 7 years. He knows the old guard. Doesn't know the younger guys. Plus he's gonna push for his friends first. Tell you to stay away from his enemies.

So this isn't the best way to do it.

Doesn't matter that George and Teddy don't know people. Google it and go!!! That is the better way to do it since they're making the call on who gets it anyway. Or just see who the Jets are interviewing and ask if you can be next.
