Something is up. Some agenda. He's gone harder for less weird pressers. Like how he quickly changed on Crane Kenny once Theo got there. That was weird.

Maybe he's trying to get his friends the Bears President job. That's why he leaked their names earlier in the day. The AD at NW or the Hawks guy. Thus has to play nice until that happens or doesn't happen.

But he's praising George? Didn't bust him for crying. Did have some criticisms, but they were measured.

Like I said, something is up. Not saying he has the power to influence. Just saying he might think that he does.

Anyway...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2HmscpwECs

Agreed.

For all his bloviation about the changes coming to Halas Hall, he sure clammed up when it didn't quite go down that way. He would normally have screamed over some of the ridiculous responses but not today.

It did seem like he was priming the pump for Jimmy Phillips. He had a lot of good things to say about Jimmy Phillips, and couldn't explain why it would be a good idea to turn away from hiring A Football Guy to instead hire Jimmy Phillips. I suspect he rather likes Jimmy Phillips.

When Dan didn't lose his shit over "we have a sense of urgency and there's no timeline," that was a DEAD FUCKING GIVEAWAY that something was up.

Bernstein also seemed to be making up the idea that Phillips's role/power may still be in jeopardy even though I thought George made it very clear nothing was changing with respect to Phillips. Bernstein kept saying that the Bears kept the option open to push Teddy out of football ops if they found the right guy, but I heard nothing like that at the presser.

Like I said earlier, it simply can't be true. Them wanting the Hawks or NW guy which Dan reported. Cuz the Bears must have hired Accorsi this morning. Must have had talks with him days if not weeks before hand. Bernstein didn't have that. Do you think Accorsi knows the Blackhawks guy? Or has even heard of him? No fucking way. Wouldn't think he knows the NW guy either.

Agreed, licked some dick on that one . Only caught his 10 mins after the presser, but he has really went out of his way to praise a guy who seemed to display the leadership characteristics of a 3rd grade soccer team....not to insult 3rd grade soccer coaches!!!

Some (Nas) might say it isnt nice to make fun of a guy who cries when he mentions his mother. if he cried while making some passionate statement of immediate and drastic change due to a plea from his dieing Mom, OK. Ughhhhh

You cry when somebody is sick or dies. Not when you fire somebody. Fuck, that was bad. It just shows weakness. Dan didn't mock that. Very telling.

And I don't want to hear Dan and Hub compliment George for saying Ginny is "Pissed off". Hey George, why don't you say you're pissed off? That would have been better. Since, ya know, you're in charge, allegedly. Seems like you made the move cuz mom is mad. Not cuz it's what you want. Which is not the narrative that Dan is trying to tell. "GEORGE IS IN CHARGE." Bullshit.

I suspect there was a recent round of "Chicago's Big Ten Team" commercial purchases made on the Score.

Now Dan says he likes Teddy and that Teddy is a good guy. He didn't think that last week. Now he's changed for some odd reason.

Maybe Ted is Bernsie's "guy"?

Maybe. Maybe Ted was the loud voice...in the room...at the meetings!!!!

Just kiddding. Teddy's not his source.

But, that brings up a good point. Dan taught us today that YELLLING DOESN'T MATTER. Yet he's inferred that George has been the loud voice in the room. So that means he's a bad owner. Dan says he's good, though. Contradiction!!!!! I win.

Are you kidding me !

He likes one of the main reasons this organization has been mired in mediocrity for years? The Crane Kenney of the Bears is suddenly a likeable figure?

He is either trolling or Ted gave his kids an autographed Lance Briggs jersey.

That wasn't as stupid of a statement as you think. Sounds weird. Yeah. But he's saying we're going hard right away, but we're not just gonna hire somebody quick just to show people how urgent we were.

You might have to wait on guys in the playoffs anyway. That's why there can't be a timeline.

I'm shocked he didn't rip George for crying, though. He would have done it for any other owner who cried while firing somebody.

Or maybe I'm wrong. I know you have to wait for coaches. Can you hire an executive from a playoff team while their team is playing?

That should be allowed. That person has nothing to do with the playoff games at this point. They don't need him.

This is the dead give away that he sold out. Bernstein would have crucified anybody else on that podium for openly weeping. He would have been laughing hysterically over the live audio from the presser. Somebody fixed him up good. Tickets, swag, memorabilia...

Maybe his source is now a proper subject of scrutiny or feeling a sense of vulnerability, if not a measure of insecurity? No doubt that legit and credentialed media has a taken a step away, and those same people will husband and nurture their sources more diligently.

Listening to John "Moon" Mullins on a segment that Spiegel overplayed, it's clear that some media types understand and respect not just their sources but their stories. Some times less is better and discretion is best. Not the parrot approach of "I heard that" but going a measure further to compare and confirm sources. At its ultimate best it's still second-hand.

Remember that one presser where Favre was crying. Maybe it was his retirement from the Packers. They mocked the hell out of him. I think Goff set a personal record for hitting the "Dumb ass cracker" button that day. Today a caller mocked George crying and Bernstein told the caller he was stupid for doing so.

I would say announcing a retirement is a time to cry. More understandable at least. Not when you fire somebody.

I wonder how far we are from "the Bears haven't done anything wrong, and they're not going to do anything wrong."

Then the next coach is obvious. Dick Vermeil.

evidently you also cry when you're mel tucker and it just dawned on you that you're coordinating your last NFL defense. the guy is a specialist in taking top-10 defenses and turning them into bottom-4 defenses; the only way i could him getting another shot @ a DC gig is if he is a LB/DB/etc coach and the DC walks out and it's like "oh hey mel has coordinated a defense before, he can be our interim DC" and then a week later they bring in a sack of potatoes to be the new DC for your oakland raiders (i mean what's the only NFL stop worse than jacksonville? there you have it.)
