Should've said my favorite song was "Vital Signs." Then all you could really intuit from that is that I'm really into ARP sequencers.

I'm asking you politely not to find me "fascinating" as if I'm a traveling exhibit. Yes, I am an introvert. No, I'm not in the shadows; I've been posting at this board for more than the length of a presidential administration and have established good internet friendships and acquaintances during that time. No, I'm not begging for any further exposure than what I have.

dude he's just trying to draw you out to punch you in the mouth. remember there's, what, a 75% chance that he'd punch you in the mouth if you two met up IRL? or was it a 25% chance that you get punched? either way you have to remember that DENNIS THE MAN RESERVES THE RIGHT TO PUNCH YOU IN THE MOUTH because while animals simply piss on things that they wanna mark as "their territory" dennis can't piss on a bulletin board as much as i can wipe my ass with scouser threads, so he's gotta do it this way with the whole "lol you know if i met curious hair IRL i might feel so inadequate in my hockey/knowledge in comparison to him that i'd have to hit him to remind everyone that i am the alpha to his omega"

either that or he's just kinda gay for you because anyone with eyes to see can notice that he's got a (proverbial?) hardon for you.

ah well, c'est la vie. CH, this whole experience oughta learn you for daring to show up on a messageboard all knowing things and talking and stuff. how dare you!

Tall Midget, I thought about adding a line for every memorable person on the board. But my wife saw me typing on the iMac with a wide smile on my face, and she knew I was up to no good. So I cut my thoughts short and left it at that.

On the Chus/chas thing, I just never read any of their stuff until recently.

Sini, there are a lot of folks on this message board just playing an act. It is safe to say that CH is a pretty real dude with a lot of deep thoughts locked up in his brain. His posts are like reading a great novel with the knowledge that you missed the wider meaning of the text. There's so much to soak up in his posts that a once over is not enough to grasp the pure genius of the prose.

Yeah, so maybe I like CH a lot. I am attracted to intelligence and wit.

No album-side suites, that's all I ask. Prog can and should get out of its own way more often than not. I really like '80s prog: KC's Discipline/Beat/3oaPP trilogy, Marillion, Talk Talk, radio-friendly Rush.

EDIT: Talk Talk was a late add; my thought pattern here was to put on Discipline, at which point the words to "Elephant Talk" reminded me that I forgot them. I'll probably never do opiates in my life, but if I do, I'm gonna have to have Laughing Stock on.

May Shock you but I have listened to the 2212 side like 3 times in my life. I liked the By Tor one better.

No man you got to listen to the stuff that is not on radio all the time. About the only stuff that gets radio play I really like are Red Barchetta and Limelight. Trees and Farewell To Kings are surefire ways to get my juices flowing.
Back in the day when the Loop used to do the 10 oclock rock block I wrote a 3 page letter explaining to them why it would be a good idea for them to do one on Rush where they did one with out the normal stuff

I cannot deny I'm fairly anti-pants, no two ways about it.

I'm curious if we can see the entire leash email to see if there's some context to the selected excerpts.

Rookie of the Year: That St Louis Bulls Fan guy stepped right into the board and eschewed all of the HI I'M NEW crap and posted like he's been here for years. maybe this belongs in a different section?

Pudwack Poster of the Year: without a doubt it's Baby McNown. the only thing is that he tried to play the "heel" role like laurence holmes before him, so i don't know if that excludes him from this category.... but semantically speaking this one is a no-brainer.

Avatar of the Year: the original post said that we should just rename the award after him, sooooo [drum roll]

The Curious Hair Avatar of the Year(TM): me. that's right, i've gone and done it... but dammit i've hustled on these avatars. whether it was the Don Cherry / HNIC (double entendre!) one from when he went out to LA dressed up like a pimp and shit-talked LA as a hockey town and started ripping on the team.... and then they pull the shot back to show he's right next to where the team is coming out so he's been talking shit about them from a few feet away.... fuck i think i had the danny welbeck statue outside of emirates stadium after his hat trick against gala in teh CL, i actually got props for editing a tony kornheiser WHY? meme to have jim decastro with the WHY? right after the game was announced to be shutting down.... and man i've prolly forgotten 5+ avatars that were better than any of the ones any non-CH CSFMBer has rocked throughout their entire time here.

my current one is unlikely to be understood by 95%+ of people on here so i had to literally PM CH about its origins so at least someone got what i did.... but the template of my avatar is from gmail when it bugs you to give them your phone # so that way no shady people can access your account, which is illustrated by this picture of a shady criminal guy with a mask on (my favorite part = he's unshaven. google going HAM on manscaping as clearly only shady criminals rock a 2 day shadow) sitting in front of a computer w/g-mail loading screen looking back at you all guilty. so this was right after the cubs hired maddon and signed lester and the board was cubbie-crazy, so i edited the picture to have the CSFMB logo in place of the g-mail logo and the loading bar was changed to have a cubs logo, meaning that CUBS FEVER IS TAKING OFF AROUND HERE!!!! and then i edited the criminal dude to have a white sox ABREU/79 jersey on, so basically the avatar makes fun of the fact that not only are sox fans renown to be criminals thugs white trash and etc.... but that this place is CUBS CRAZY, and only shady criminal sox fans are looking to illegally break into the board's cubs talk with their white sox BS.... so yeah, on like 2-3 different levels this avatar delivers and yet since i'm me and i babble and don't care enough to do capital letters and punctuation and all that nobody will even care. or notice. or give me a nod for my avatar game, which i maintain is tight. shit man my old 2012-mid2014 laptop died so i lost a lot of avatars on there like when i had the 1-800-CALL-DAN avatar with bernstein's head on a lawyer's body and the text changed to reflect some talking points at the time. i think i had a ben finfer avatar reflecting his newfound celebrity too. yeah. pay attention kids cuz i teach a class in avatars, that is, of course, fighting for 2nd-place-at-best because curious hair is far and away "the avatar guy" on this board.

Funniest Poster: ikesouth. he knows who and what he is relative to don tiny's "good upstanding people" on this board, and i've gotten the most straight up LOL gut-laughs from ikesouth posts. ike makes this board a better place and yet people wanna slag him off as some crazy retard from rockford? ha. he knows that you think that and acts accordingly. he's the essence of redman's timeless classic "i'll bee dat" and, yeah, he iz dat. there's no doubt. rock on ike!

Best Mult: [whoever TP/OKC is/are out of that crop of post-MSFMB guys who show up in b&b threads and post like they've been here for years]

Best Thread: CH's blackhawks game threads are the archetype of what game threads should be on this board. he does his homework and goes out of his way to deliver the goods. he doesn't make them that much, if at all anymore because like... they take TIME and EFFORT which he doesn't have in spades right now to do them. usually if anyone takes time and effort to make a post here they get slagged off as TLDR, but CH isn't exactly the usual poster here. when he puts in time and effort he gets a lot of quiet respect and the business end of denisdman's curious hair hardon. WAY TO SAY THANKS TO A LEGEND GUYS!

Best Individual Post: man this one is hard..... but i think it was some thread about christmas wish lists where everyone was posting serious stuff about what they want and rah rah rah, and then as you go through like 10+ posts of everyone sharing their innermost hopes and desires you have ike pop up with this picture of a hotel bed with like 8 pounds of weed on it in individual garbage bags. i fucking lol'd. technically the real best post of the year was another ike dichotomy post like that but i can't remember exactly what it was, but since it was the same raison d'etre as that christmas wish list post.

The Straw Stirrin the Drink: Bigfan. I personally think the guy does an amazing job running the place, but like... so many here yenta up up and away hyperanalyzing his moderation that idk how he hasn't banned a whole lot more people.... but holy shit when the guy takes action we're going to spend weeks talking about it. by definition it's clearly him.

Poster of the Year: can we rename this award after curious hair too? the guy makes all of us look bad at posting because he's simply better than us at it. i think he's poster of the year emeritus at this point.

The Curious Hair Chicken Poster of the Year(TM): i gotta go with JORR here. Yeah i'm slightly biased because i've had a chance to hang out with JORR a few times IRL and he's a really good dude (and one who can bear witness to losing me on the walk from the mcnuggets bar to his car because i was busy copping phone #s on the walk =) but the guy is the goods when it comes to posting here. he's got that oldschool mentality/perspective on the sports issues of the day.... you know it's like talking to your cool uncle or your dad/grandpa in terms of sports/chicago/culture/etc and the guy's got opinions on just about everything that i want to read. and if not him he knows a guy who knows a thing or two about a horse running in that afternoon's race. that's (literally) priceless. but yeah maybe it's something relative to a generational gap where i look up to my elders and whatnot, but JORR falls into the category of "i hope i'm that cool when i'm his age" and while i'm not trying to be like "lol he's old" it's not about that as much as it is that he's oldschool and i like to think that when he was younger he looked up to the cooler older guys like i did/do, and thus he soaked in a lot of perspective/candor/style from those guys and you can see him paying it forward with us on here.

like i said, he's the quintessential cool sports uncle who knows his shit and always has an endearing opinion on something. you come to the board in the wake of the news (like skip bayless before you) and wonder what he's thinking about the issue/s of the day, you know, like b&b in the early-mid 2000s! =) and much like the quintessential cool sports elders, you respect the guy because if anything he prolly has mafia connections and it'd be in your best interest/s to do so! just kidding on that, but really the guy's been around the block and can prolly tell you stories about how the block got its name. he's like this one awesome punk rock bartender dude i know in that while he might not technically be one of the most legendary bartenders in chicago like ken ellis, i'll be damned if he doesn't go back to 1978 with ken ellis! and hell, JORR prolly knows ken ellis and is chucking as he reads this because he knows what i'm talking about. the CSFMB is lucky to have an "it-getter" like JORR posting here, and i can say without a doubt that its guys like him and CH that make this board the place to be when it comes to messageboards, let alone chicago and/or sports messageboards. we're fortunate to have genuinely cool thing-knowing-motherfuckers like them come here just about every day and take time out of their lives to share some words thoughts perspectives and opinions with us. mazeltov gentlemen!

and i gotta add in one more category....

The Curious Hair Chicken / Townstone Financial CSFMB Board Owner of the Year: bigfan-- seriously, none of this bullshit would be possible if this guy wasn't out there footing the bill to give the world one of the best damn messageboards on the planet. it goes without saying that i've gotten countless hours of entertainment from this board over the last few months, let alone this year, the last few years, and etc etc. and whatever costs are accrued running the place are covered by this guy without even so much as suggesting that we COULD donate to him and etc. that's all kinds of awesome because the guy basically pays out of his pocket to entertain/inform/uplift us on a daily basis. how many of you guys would be stuck over @ thechive.com or collegehumor.com if not for the intrepid efforts of one bigfan? i can't even fathom what my day-to-day internet life would be like without this place cuz in terms of messageboards it's the place that i basically call my online home, and i'm forever thankful to biggie for creating/running/holding-down the place so we all can show up here and yenta it up in the name of not wanting to actually do 100% work and totally earn our paychecks.

so yeah as always a special thank you goes out to the man, the myth, the legend that is chicago's very own bigfan because LITERALLY without him none of this would be possible. and i hope to god all of us never lose sight of this fact as we mouth off and talk shit and carry on like "SO WHAT? WE DON'T NEED THIS BOARD! WE DON'T NEED TO BE CENSORED BY THAT NAZI (lol the irony of saying that...) --- cuz the fact remains that we do need this board. it's just whether or not we wanna admit it to ourselves at this point.

my bad on the TLDR gents as i've resolved to be way less TLDR in this new year, and while i'm technically off to a shitty start in that regard, welp, the year is young and i have a plan like Theo before me (has anyone registered the AIM screen name LikeTheoB4Me ??? if not, well, i think i got this one if only because people don't use AIM anymore in favor of whatsapp or whatever the kids use nowadays. i can be a veritable 75 year old man by going WHATS A TINDER? and i'm technically not lying) --- so yeah. rousing start to this resolution i tell you. maybe i'll just make my posts on here dumps of my twitter messages and then i can finally start to get liked/respected/etc because rule #1 of the internet is STFU! NOBODY WANTS TO READ YOUR CRAP! (...i type as i hear a car honking in the background. synchronicity has told me that i'm on to something there, so without further adieu.... finis)

----

that's all i've got, and you better thank the lord that i dont have anything more cuz lord knows i'd surely tell you about it.... with no capital letters and any sort of effort at punctuation. just for your viewing disdain ;)

naw mr. THE MAN is definitely spot on with this one. i'm actually middle-management at a fortune 500 company and i decided that i'd get a kick out of joining up this board and convincing everyone that i'm a burnout wannabe-rapper with the talking equivalent of irritable bowel syndrome "for the lulz."

and good doctor, lulz were had. oh yes they were. me and dennis are kindered spirits on this one. we know that the board is the equivalent of the WWE and we're all just self-employed independent contractors who show up with a gimmick and a dream... why post as yourself, the nameless/faceless/anonymous corporate 9-5 suit-n-tie schmoe with a few thoughts about chicago sports and nothing else to say when instead i can "be" EL SINICALYPSE RODRIGUEZ: THE WORLD'S #1 RAPPER IN THE YEAR 2020?

seriously, i hope to god that you're an act/gimmick/etc because otherwise your kids are getting some FUCKED UP advice when you have your talks with them, i tell you what =D

awww thanks BR.... but don't lose the plot here! we're all highly trained actors who need to do what we gotta do to keep the show going, therefore you can't let it slip that you read even one of my posts otherwise the board could end up in a state of schism from which it might not ever recover.... that is unless we all donate to bigfan's kickstarter/patreon and get the man the $100k he needs to run the board for the next year! i think we can do it.... and hey for a $100+ incentive he can give out those CSFMB shirts that i think take approximately 2.5 years to hand-craft for each individual shirt =D

[JORR] I was in Germany in 1984, and Marillion were big in Europe. I bought in after picking up "Fugazi", then went back for "Script...", and a shitload of 12" singles they had at the time (I still have them, I think). The next year they were doing the festival circuit, and I caught them in Nurnburg the weekend after Rock Am Ring, in a show curtain-jerked by Night Ranger, then Marillion (I believed they had actually replaced Loverboy on the bill), Saga, Huey Lewis, and Foreigner...anyhoo, Marillion played the first "side" of "Misplaced Childhood" just before it was about to be released. I enjoyed it; the heavily-US service-populated (and well-lubed) portion of the crowd did not.[/JORR]

I'd say that's highly doubtful.

I'd say it isn't. I've observed many posters here doing such.

That's just the internet. When folks go into the "if he would have said that in real life to my face, I would have punched him out on the spot" it's the same sort of thing.

The differences are vast. It's not just a vowel.

where was this avatar theft? as far as i can tell apologist has his "classic" assault-rifle-brandishing-cat avatar that he's always had, minus the potential 1-2 day exceptions when there's a hot topic worthy of an avatar (cuz i seem to remember him changing up to accommodate the topic of the day, but never going too far away from the killer kat which always makes a glorious komeback)
