Why do you think saying a fanbase is particularly optimistic is mocking? Am I also mocking Sox fans when I say we are largely pessimistic? "Wait 'til next year" is the motto of one particular fanbase, isn't it? Or am I just making shit up?

No, saying they're pessimistic is a backdoor way of saying they're smart. Cub fans are idiots who get CONNED regularly. Sox fans are smarter and harder to fool with hype.

I'm not sure why you feel that way. I don't find being negative about the majority of transactions, trades, and signings to be "smart". It's just negative.

The Sox haven't exactly won a bunch of World Series themselves. Sox fans could have just as easily adopted "Wait 'til next year" as a slogan. They didn't, and that isn't because they're smart.

the fanbases are different. sox fans are fucking ornery and full of spite and hate. otherwise they would just be cub fans where all the fun is.

You don't want to agree. You'd rather find hidden meaning in what I'm saying rather than just accepting it at face value. Maybe that's the bullshit you had to put up with as a South side Cub fan.

I said I don't think Sox fans are any smarter than Cub fans. You just don't want to believe that I really mean it. It doesn't fit your narrative.

I think you're a pretty typical Sox fan. If the Sox organization had all the same players that are in the Cubs organization I'm certain you would be negative about them. I don't think that makes you smart. I just think it makes you a Sox fan.

Emilio is an excellent signing if not asked to be a starter. GREAT Platoon guy because he will gave a hot streak, can play any position and can run (Better for NL) b ut still a good player to have on your team.

Watching Bonifacio run the bases certainly won't improve their disposition

No hidden meaning necessary. How many times have you written CONNED in regards to Cub fans

Ok, just to be perfectly clear here, you dont think Sox fans are more knowledgeable about baseball than Cub fans? (Im not talking general intelligence)

If so, then I guess I was wrong about that point.

Well, I do think Cub fans are being conned by Epstein. But I don't think it's because they're dumb. Epstein is a good con man. And the Cubs happen to be a good situation for a con man. The fans want to win so bad. It's understandable. Smart people get conned all the time. The con man plays on their hopes and dreams. The guy that invests in the Ponzi scheme isn't stupid. He just wants so bad to believe and make 100% on his money. I would use the word susceptible rather than stupid.

No. Both fanbases have equal percentages of knowledgeable fans. I consider you and IMU more knowledgeable than many Sox fans.

Exactly and he's not a good defensive player. I remember calling him the Cubs Alejandro De Aza. Oh god typing that name just ruined my day.

Bonafacio is fine as a bench player and once a week starter.

Unfortunately, he will be overused because Ventura sucks. He'll probably end up being this year's version of Moises Sierra.

In fairness to Ventura, carrying Konerko last season had his hands tied with what he could do with his bench. I think ideally on this team, Bonifacio is going to start a lot of the time, but at many different positions.

He could potentially start 120 games easy, 3B/2B primarily. Not sure where else they are comfortable with him playing.

He plays all the outfield positions adequately, doesn't he? Maybe they can get rid of both Danks brothers.

Why do you think so? He should be fine giving three or four different guys a break each week.

He's not really terrible though. It's not 1996 anymore. We're starting to see Paul Popovich type utility men again.

I understand that. I'm looking at numbers relative to league averages.

Right, but Cabrera and Abreu and Trout, etc. are in those league averages. I'm not some big Bonifacio fan, but having a switch-hitter who can play all the positions isn't a negative.

How bad those guys on the Sox were. No one is saying Neifi Bonerface is good. They are just saying he is better than those other turds.
