well...what kind of music do you generally like ? for instance i'm not going to recommend Pinata to someone who doesn't already at least somewhat like hip hop

I usually defer to my cousin on younger, hipster music.

They gave me a vinyl copy of "St. Vincent" for Christmas. It's a good listen.

track 4 I swear I was jamming to Dire Straits until I realized otherwise.

Sounds great otherwise so far. don't doubt it is one of the year's best.

edit: now we got Bob Dylan track 7. At least he's copying the right guys!

That Mac Demarco is one goofy ass dude, but his music is really pretty good.

XRT Listener Poll for 2014 and boy, this is rough sledding:

Quote:
1. The Black Keys – Turn Blue
2. Jack White – Lazaretto
3. Foo Fighters – Sonic Highways
4. Beck – Morning Phase
5. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers – Hypnotic Eye
6. St. Vincent – St. Vincent
7. U2 – Songs of Innocence
8. Spoon – They Want My Soul
9. Robert Plant – Lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar
10. Hozier – Hozier

Are we sure human beings are voting for Black Keys and Foo Fighters albums and it's not just CBS issuing directives?

That looks pretty similar to every XRT playlist ever, really.

Hozier blows though.

Still not really sure why Spoon seems to be so popular.
Black Keys blow.
That Tom Petty record sucked.
The Foo Fighters record was disappointing.
Beck's album was good.
Jack White is awesome.
Only heard one song each off the Hozier and Plant records. :|
I'd rather see St Vincent naked than listen to her music.
I have no opinion whatsoever on U2.

No offense, but I don't think she's interested in......."you". Or me.

But I would watch. And listen to her music.

Spoon is competent. They're the Foo Fighters of indie. The actual Foo Fighters are awful.

I guess I've just never heard a Spoon song that made me think.....
Wow, I should follow up on this band.
I didn't say they were awful.
But bands like Spoon, Black Keys, Kings Of Leon, and even Arcade Fire are kinda mystifying to me.
None of them make stadium music, but seem popular enough to fill some arenas. Sometimes half capacity, but still a decent box office.
Scott Weiland, singer of one of the biggest bands (STP) of the 90's/early 2000's will be lucky to sell out his upcoming show at Double Door.
Tastes iz fickle.

Cage The Elephant are an exciting live band with shitty music.
I don't know Alt-J.
And if Of Monsters and Men are that swedish (or some shit) hey ho band
with the fat singer, yeah, they flat out suck.

Yeah, they suck too. Some kind of Blues-Traveler-meets-The-Weavers abomination.

I don't know Alt J. either.

The Lumineers really suck, all that hey-ho, suspender wearing shaggy-beard folk rock.
There always seems to be a cute enough girl in the band with a dumb haircut.
She's always singing with the lead singer, even on the verses, and she's always
got that manic pixie dream girl smile on her face. There's a trope I wish would die already.
Be the LEAD SINGER IN YOUR OWN BAND, Tabitha, or whatever the fuck your name is.
8)  :drunken:

I'm not going, but I bet it sells out.
Tickets are cheap, he has name recognition for people with money.

You guys should check out Alt-J, they're great. :|

And just because the Black Keys add a couple guys and sell 50% of the seats at the UC doesn't mean they should. That band would build an even bigger following by doing a 2-3 night run at Aragon instead.

Yeah, really. What do they contribute to this world? It's like, "well, here we are. An indie band." And that's it.
