I was thinking about it this weekend and the Sox are a World Series contender right now.

Fuck contenders, they should be front runners for the world series.

Here's how I have the 25 man roster:

C- Tyler Flowers
C- Rob Brantly
1B- Jose Abreu
1B- Adam Laroche
2B- Carlos Sanchez (lets hope)
SS- Alexei Ramirez
3B- Conor Gilaspie
OF- Melky Cabrera
OF- Adam Eaton
OF- Avisail Garcia
OF- Dayan Viciedo
Util- Emilio Bonafacio (lets hope)
Util- Leury Garcia

SP- Chris Sale
SP- Jeff Samardjiza
SP- Jose Quintana
SP- Hector Noesi
SP- John Danks

Re- David Robertson
Re- Jake Petricka
Re- Zack Putman
Re- Zack Duke
Re- Dan Jennings
Re- Daniel Webb
Re- Javy Guerra

I think they're a playoff contender/World Series contender (same thing) but there are obvious holes in every group. Hahn needs to find a better 4th outfielder (hopefully Jordan Danks makes it thru waivers) and why he didn't pull the trigger on the rumored Viciedo/Brandon Maurer trade I'll never know. They also need a better 4th starter and another bullpen arm. Hahn can kill two birds with one stone by acquiring a right handed starter and moving Noesi to the bullpen. If they make those moves I'll agree they're a favorite.

I believe the premise of this thread is not applicable for 2015 with Abreu's transformation into a fat Juan Pierre.

Was it long enough for us to count it as a home run?

29 HRs and 92 (ish) RBI. He will likely get to 30 and 100 before the year is out, and his average is getting closer to .300

There has been only one player in MLB history to have at least 30 HRs and 100 RBIs in each of his first two MLB seasons. That gentleman's name is Albert Pujols, who may or may not be above suspicion for PED use. Either way, that is a pretty exclusive club Abroo is about to join.

Lets just hope him and Sale can perform in the postseason on the Southside relatively soon.

Stumble?

Great signing. All the Cubans to come out in last 5 or 6 years and they got the best one

Yeah, he was a hot commodity. And he has definitely been the best one so far, unless you're counting Aroldis.

sure they get credit, but nobody knew he'd be this good, otherwise he would've been offered a shit-ton more than what he got.

The PECOTA geniuses had him at like .235 and 20.

That's it. Every signing discussion is over. This is the answer. Simply replace good with bad when required.

Imagine if he had a major league hitter hitting behind him.
