It's just a few seconds well spent to not sound like a goon. Sans pleasantries:

"John in Des Plaines, you're on the Score."
"How come the Bears won't trade Cutler?!?"

You sound halfway like a guy with Tourette's, just blurting shit out. Even if I'm at, like, a counter ordering food or something, I'll say "hi" or something before I say what I want. "I WANT FOOD."

You call it "blurting shit out", I call it getting to the point. The food counter is a good example. I don't care how the person taking my order is. And even if they did have a sincere interest in how I was doing (which they don't), I'm not there for a therapy session or idle chit-chat. Just take the damn order.

I thought training camp talk was horrible. Somehow who will be the next GM/Coach talk found a way to be worse.

Seems, when they interview "guests", they start with "banal pleasantries" or when they say Terry's two favorite word in show bidness, they spend five minutes discussing how each other are...

if score listeners are subjected to 25 minutes of commercials every hour Dan should be able exert the minimal effort and minimal 1 second response "fine" without acting like a penis about it

Also, the caller of 'Hi, how are you?" gets Danny pissed off these days. Really just some annoying radio. 10 mins these days and I need to turn it off. Really depressing to do so, but at its heart, its fake, its fake information with fake disapproval.

Maybe it's okay to ask someone how they're doing if you're wearing a sport coat?

I agree its annoying, but Dan's indignation about it only amplifies its insufferability. He acts as if it'll stop occurring it if he berates enough people, which won't happen.

That's moving the goal posts. I'm specifically talking about the how are you thing. I never said anything about please or thank you.

It's not about it being difficult. It's about the scripted nature of the question. Do you care how I am for real? Not really. So just skip it. It's fake. Want to really know how I am? How about I just unload my problems on you when you ask, my life story, what is going well for me, the whole nine yards..... Do you really want to have that conversation? I sure as hell don't. Save your breath.

WSCR's signal is stronger, if that means anything.
