That's what the idea was, it just never worked out that way. It just ended up being Spiegel trying to disagree with Dan or trying to agree with him only to get it's-not-even-thatted for his troubles. I agree, cut the segment, and cut B&B back down to four hours.

They were scrapped and then reintroduced when Mac & Spiegs started. Transition was initially somewhat successful b/c all 4 would reminisce about the "old days". So M&H had one for like a week with M&S but then Mac said something that pissed Mully off.

Once the "good old days" stuff was done the segment sucked b/c Terry & Dan obviously hadn't continued their relationship over the 10+ years they were apart. Add that neither really wanted to work and you end up with Spiegs and Bernstein slap fighting.

But they brought it back as part of his return. No one was doing transition in the North/M&H/Murph/B&B/whoever lineup, nor the M&H/Hamp&Leery/Murph/B&B/whoever lineup. Probably because they were all a bunch of catty bitches who couldn't TALK ABOUT SPORTS with each other without getting their feelings hurt.

M&H had one with Murph before Mac's return. Murph asked Mully a question about the Bears and Mully told Murph he should get a press pass, go to the locker room after the game and find out for himself.

Murph responded by angrily shouting "Why don't you do YOUR job!" several times. Mully tried to change the subject and ask Murph what he had for lunch (Murph was at a restaurant remote) and Murph gave us the classic "I don't have time to eat lunch". Transition seems to result in a lot of butthurt hosts.

I loved transition back in the day (Monsters and Heavy Fuel) because everyone would hit on the big news items of the day rapid fire and joke around. But Bernstein is unwilling and possibly unable (he might be on the spectrum) of having a pleasant conversation with anyone, even when things are humming along for a while he hijacks it with his talking points.

Does anyone see Mannelly and Bernstein working together? Mannelly claims he likes Berns. I catch Mannelly wanting to be goofy and Spiegel just wanting to move on. I know Bernsy isn't as goofy as he once was, but he does have more of a funny side than Spiegel.

Bernstein looks like he has dwarfism in that picture...like the in the dream scene of Twin Peaks speaking backwards while snapping his fingers. His upper body is normal sized and placed on tiny little legs with a head twice as big as normal.
