And on my birthday, kind of a crappy way to end the day. Maybe he went to Iowa to the field of dreams.

Ernie Banks rest in piece. A great guy. He told me I should marry my girlfriend in 2000. I did in 2001.

He was nice. A little off his rocker, I thought. But nice.

Do you wanna buy the baseball?

Brandmeier used to play a song called "Give Me The Body of Ernie Banks". Who knew Ernie would last longer than Johnny B's career.

Ernie seemed like a great guy. I always thought it was undignified that Mr. Cub, the most beloved person in team history, had to wear a hat identifying who he was when walking around Wrigley. I guess Ernie must look like Woo Woo to drunken frat boys

Too bad he never told you not to do a radio show with guests no one cares about.

83 years is a pretty good run and it seemed like he enjoyed his life. Seems like a life worth celebrating to me. The only guy that signed more autographs than Pete Rose and Bobby Hull. Nice to everyone.

When I was a kid,I remember Banks was strolling in late for the game in the back where the players entered. He didn't have time for autographs and just kept saying "Happy Days,Happy Days" as he brushed through the crowd.

I did get a cool autograph from Steve Hamilton who drew a smileyface on my scorecard and talked to me about his "Follies Floater" for a few seconds. I never forgot that.

Sounds like something Brickhouse would've been interested in.
