RIP, Ernie. Thanks for signing that hat back in 1974. You made my day.

Ernie Banks debuted on 9/17/53. Cubs should make 9/17 Ernie Banks Day and play an annual home doubleheader.
Not sure whether you're doing some B&B "make fun of people who like things" thing, but that really is a good idea.
I don't know about annual, but this year for sure.

Or at least give him two funerals.

Saw him at the airport once when I was a kid, and on stage in 2013 with Pearl Jam. Truly a great Cub. RIP

They're in Pittsburgh on the 17th, but the Cardinals are in town for the 18th-19th-20th. Hard to see them taking a weekend game away from themselves, though.

They wouldn't take away a date with the Cardinals and make it a buy one get two games double header. Those games are all gonna be sell outs. In fact, many of those tickets are already sold I would imagine. Rickets isn't gonna take that loss.

You could do it in April when it's tough getting sell outs. Some of those early games might only get 15k or so. So make one of those dates a double header for Ernie Banks.

It's not even about doing a two-for-one; that would be off the table entirely. It would be a day-night doubleheader no matter what, and I don't expect them to do that with a Cardinals weekend.

Yeah. They could do that.

You're right. 2 for 1 is impossible even in Aril. Cuz then you would have to refund all of your season ticket holders for that one free game your giving to people just buying tickets for that day.

Only if that somehow gets the Cubs closer to a championship.

I'm betting Don most likely drinks from the toilet first, as Walt's house still does not have indoor plumbing.

When Ernie was missing from Cubfest, Ricketts said he was undergoing a "procedure". My guess would be that they're going to be looking to sue a doctor/hospital.

The statement coming from the lawyer made me think the same thing, that they are teeing up a lawsuit of some kind. But all "procedures" carry risk, especially at age 83.
